England Football Match Beaten in Television Ratings by BBC Quiz Show 'Pointless'
England have won five matches in a row since the World Cup, but apathy for the national team amongst the public appears to remain.
Despite a healthy crowd of 82,000 watching England beat Slovenia 3-1 at Wembley Stadium, an average of just 4.56 million watched the game on television despite it being free-to-air on ITV.
That meant it was narrowly beaten by a celebrity version of the quiz show Pointless that was on BBC One at the same time.

As per Hamish Mackay of Mail Online:
"ITV averaged 4.56million viewers as Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck handed England victory in London, while the BBC quiz show, which was on at the same time, averaged 4.99m.
It's hard to believe Vanessa Feltz, Penny Smith, Kriss Akabusi, Roger Black, Keith Chegwin, Andrew Castle, Louie Spence and Carol McGiffin could be more of a draw than the England team, but UK viewing figures suggest otherwise.
At its peak, the England game was being watched by 6.3m people, while Pointless Celebrities, presented by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, peaked at 7.26m.
"
England's victory means they have 12 points from a possible 12 in Group E of UEFA Euro 2016 qualification, and with the top two teams guaranteed qualification, Roy Hodgson's men already look near-certain participants in France.
