Manchester United Transfer News: Angel Di Maria Reflects on Missed PSG Chance
Angel Di Maria has admitted the chance to play for Paris Saint-Germain would have been a "great experience."
The Argentinian winger appeared on the brink of joining the Ligue 1 champions during the summer, but UEFA's decision to sanction PSG with Financial Fair Play punishments eventually made the move impossible. This allowed Louis van Gaal to step in and pay £59.7 million for the man who posted a terrific season with Real Madrid.
Di Maria told French station Telefoot (h/t Simon Rice of The Independent): "I have no regrets about leaving the [sic] Real Madrid. Paris, it would have been a great experience. It would please a lot of players to play at a French club."

Jorgelina Cardoso, Di Maria's wife, recently took to Instagram to deny suggestions her husband is unhappy in Manchester.
She retaliated to comments posted by former Red Devils midfielder Paul Scholes, who suggested Di Maria "doesn't seem to be in the same happy" mood he exerted at Madrid, per Ben Jefferson of the Daily Express.
"You are free to think whatever you want, but in fact, Angel is absolutely happy of being in Manchester United... Buenas noches," wrote Cardoso, who attached the following image:
Di Maria has appeared largely content on the pitch, where he has contributed three goals and five assists in nine Premier League matches, per WhoScored.com. Despite a couple of poor recent performances, most noticeably during the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, much of United's play is now dictated through the speedy star.
He thrusts the team forward with pace, proving useful both in central midfield and on the flank. That said, his recent showing against Neil Warnock's side left plenty of room to improve, as noted by Squawka:
Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News recently assessed Di Maria's form with B/R UK's Ryan Bailey:
There's little doubt Di Maria would have fit into Laurent Blanc's PSG line-up, although it's debatable where.
The French manager regularly deploys a 4-3-3 formation with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the middle of an attacking trident. It's likely Di Maria would have taken Edinson Cavani's place to the left, especially as the Uruguayan has been pushed centrally to make up for Zlatan's injury problems.
With Ezequiel Lavezzi at the club and Lucas Moura hitting form, Blanc would have faced a similar situation to Van Gaal when trying to slot Di Maria in.

The Dutch boss suggested Di Maria's willingness to dribble instead of pass was "not good for the balance of the team" against Palace, as reported by David McDonnell of the Daily Mirror. Di Maria was similarly disappointing during Argentina's recent friendly with Croatia and needs to find another burst of form heading into United's next tie with Arsenal on Nov. 22.
He is already an extremely important player for the club. Results hinge on his displays, ensuring there's pressure on Di Maria already. United's lack of dominance is completely different to the title race he would have experienced in France, but it could be just as rewarding if the side banish their demons and return to the Champions League.
