Is Real Madrid Balanced Enough for Success?
On June 1, 2009, former Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez became president of Real Madrid once more after a three year layoff. He announced during his opening press conference that he was going to go and acquire the best players in the world, reinstating his old policy of Galácticos back to the club.
Within his first week of reclaiming the presidency, Pérez acquired the services of Brazilian superstar Kaká from Italian giant AC Milan for 56 million pounds.
After the deal for Kaká was completed, Pérez announced that Manchester United star and reigning Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo was the next player that Pérez was going to pursue.

On June 11, Real Madrid made a world record offer of 80 million pounds to Manchester United to acquire Ronaldo's services, which United accepted in the richest transfer in football history.
Shortly afterward, Real Madrid bought Karim Benzema from Lyon for 30 million pounds, and Real Madrid now had a stacked lineup in which stars will in position on every part of the football pitch.
However, Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't believe that Real Madrid are poised for success next season.
Ferguson, along with new AC Milan manager Leonardo, both have stated that they don't believe Real Madrid will be able to succeed next season, as Madrid are stacked in offensive positions but not defensive positions.
Ferguson also stated that he's thankful he isn't in Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini's shoes, as he will have no idea how Pellegrini will be able to get all of the star's on Madrid an even amount of playing time in order to keep them happy.
