Josh Brent Activated by Cowboys: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said Brent will need to work his way into football shape before actually playing, per ESPN's Tim MacMahon:

The Cowboys later confirmed the roster move on their Twitter account:
Brent, 26, was suspended for the first 10 games of the Cowboys' 2014 season after being convicted of intoxication manslaughter. That was the charge he faced from the 2012 accident that resulted in the death of teammate Jerry Brown. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and was released after serving his term in June.
Despite initially retiring from football, Brent has since returned to the Cowboys and has been seen at team facilities. The NFL allowed Brent to begin working out at team facilities after Dallas' Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints, two weeks earlier than his initial deal with the NFL said. He was eligible to begin practicing with the team in Week 9.
It's unclear what role Brent will have upon his return. In his first three NFL seasons, Brown served as a backup defensive lineman, making five starts in 39 games. He has 44 career tackles and 1.5 sacks and has not appeared in a game since 2012.
Earlier this month the Cowboys signed Brent to a one-year extension for the league minimum.
