Alaba Surgery Successful
Bayern hope to have Alaba back in their squad for January's winter training camp after surgery proved successful on Friday. The club's official website provides the latest:
"David Alaba has already taken the first step towards recovering from injury after the 22-year-old successfully underwent surgery on Friday morning to repair a damaged meniscus in his right knee. FCB chief medical officer Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt said the operation was completed without complications.
Alaba will be discharged form hospital on Saturday and will wear a protective plaster cast on the knee for the next 14 days. The freshly-crowned Austrian Sports Personality of the Year will then be fitted with a special splint allowing him to commence physical therapy and initial sports rehab exercise.

Alaba Requires Knee Surgery
Bayern Munich defender David Alaba suffered a knee injury late in the club's Champions League triumph over Roma on Wednesday. The news wasn't good on Thursday, as the team announced that Alaba would require surgery:
".@David_Alaba diagnosis: Partial MCL tear and medial meniscus injury. Surgery required. Set for several weeks on the sidelines. #GetWellSoon
— FC Bayern English (@FCBayernEN) November 6, 2014"
Karolos Grohmann of Reuters initially passed along comments from manager Pep Guardiola, who confirmed there was an issue that needed further evaluation.
"There is a problem with David. He was injured," Guardiola said. "He will get checked out tomorrow when we will know more."
The club initially provided a little more information, noting it was an MCL ailment:
Alaba was arguably the best player on the pitch for Bayern against Roma. He had an assist to go along with continued steady play at the back.
Any type of extended absence for the 22-year-old rising star would be a major setback for a FCB side that's already dealt with its fair share of injury concerns this season.
