Winners and Losers from Liga MX Week 15
America's lead shortened in Week 15, and now Toluca trail them by two points. The 2014 Apertura's regular season is coming to an end, and with it the clubs' tireless fight to secure a spot in the Liguilla.
Leon had a fantastic display of technique and rhythm, as they managed to jump to the eighth place of the general table, which puts them inside the playoffs.
Morelia had the most surprising win of the matchday, as they stunned Monterrey at Estadio Morelos.
We had bad news too. UNAM is still winless on home soil, while the refereeing was worrisome in El Clasico.
Let's take a look at the winners and losers from Week 15.
Winners: Morelia
1 of 5
The winless streak on home soil is over for Morelia.
Monarcas defeated Monterrey 2-1 at Estadio Morelos, something they hadn't accomplished since the 2012 Apertura.
Jose Cruz's side created 13 opportunities, had a 84 percent pass-completion rate and made 16 shots.
Joel Huiqui was instrumental for Morelia. The centre-back joined the attack on a regular basis, opening spaces and creating opportunities for his teammates. The Mexican also made the assist for his side's first goal.
In the last couple of matchdays of the 2014 Apertura, Monarcas will face Queretaro and Guadalajara.
Losers: Guadalajara and America

El Clasico ended in a scoreless draw, although America proposed more than Guadalajara.
Las Aguilas were superior in every stat: They created seven goal opportunities, they made 10 shots, attempted 23 crosses and won 53 percent of the aerial duels.
However, Chivas could have taken the lead in the first half, but the referee didn't give a clear penalty when Paul Aguilar clearly blocked the ball with his arm.
Another tough blow for Guadalajara came when Jair Pereira left the pitch due to an injury, just after 23 minutes.

Winners: Leon
3 of 5
Leon is making a late run and could qualify to the Liguilla with two matchdays pending.
La Fiera had a lousy season until Week 11. They recorded three wins and eight defeats, while they had a goal difference of minus-four, and sit 16th in the general table.
However, Gustavo Matosas has managed to overturn the bad results. From Matchday 12 to 15, Leon have not lost once.
This week they trashed Atlas. Los Zorros visited Nou Camp hoping to grab three points and take over the tournament's lead.
However, the home team had other plans and kept its winning streak alive.
Losers: UNAM
4 of 5
The nightmare continues for UNAM as they failed to win on home soil yet again. Guillermo Vazquez's side is the only squad in the 2014 Apertura that is yet to secure a victory on their own turf.
This week Pumas faced Veracruz, a team fighting to stay in the first division. Like it has happened in the previous six games held at Estadio Olimpico, UNAM fell short.
Despite their superiority—they made 24 shots, compared to Tiburones Rojos' nine, as well as a total of 22 goal opportunities—Pumas couldn't take advantage of playing on their own ground.
This result also puts in jeopardy UNAM's chance to make the Liguilla.
Winners: Alfredo Talavera and Mauro Boselli
5 of 5
Alfredo Talavera was the key player for Toluca in their match against Tijuana.
Diablos Rojos left Estadio Caliente with three points, which led them to gain one spot in the general table; now, Toluca sit second, just two points behind America.
Talavera made six saves, four of them in the second half of the match, when Xolos were pushing hard to tie the score.

On the other hand, Mauro Boselli netted a brace versus Atlas, which puts him atop the top scorers' table.
His performance in Week 15 was instrumental for La Fiera, as they grabbed three points and made the Liguilla’s qualification zone.
Boselli also completed 70 percent of the passes he sent and won 67 percent of the aerial duels in which he was involved.
The Argentinean has put the ball away 11 times in 14 appearances.
