T.O.: Defends Vick, Urges Players to Speak Out
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens may be onto something.
Never one to keep the public from his mind, Owens spoke candidly on Sunday about Commissioner Roger Goodell's decision to suspend former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick an additional four games after serving a 23-month prison sentence for dog fighting.
For once, he is right.

"I think the way the commissioner is handling it is unfair to Michael Vick. I think he's done the time for what he's done. I don't think it's really fair for him to be suspended four more games. It's almost like kicking a dead horse in the ground," Owens said.
Goodell is simply adding insult to injury by banning Vick from the league for an additional four games. If under the eyes of the law, Vick has served his time and is now deemed fit and ready to return as a working member of society, what sense is there in prolonging that process?
Owens wasn't the only member of the Bills to voice his distaste for the unnecessary lengthening of Vick's suspension. Safety George Wilson was heard singing the same tune.
"How do you bring a man out of suspension and then suspend him again? I mean, he's paid his debt," Wilson said. "I think you just continue to hold him down by bringing him back and then suspend him."
It's important that the players who agree that it is unfair to suspend Vick a second time speak out against it. Owens' call to action should be lauded.
"A lot of the guys around the league need to speak up. I think the players' union needs to step in because the guy's already suffered so much, and to add a four-game suspension onto a two-year prison sentence, I mean, that's ridiculous."
