The Miami Dolphins, who were already thin at the running back position with a season-ending injury to Knowshon Moreno, will have to dig deep into their vault to get production on the ground. Lamar Miller left this week's game against San Diego after suffering an injury.

Jeff Darlington of NFL.com shared the news on Miller's injury:

Following the game, Miller spoke about the injury, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald:

Not a lot has gone right in Miami this year, but the running game was something this team could depend on each week. Moreno and Miller were terrific when they were on the field, whether it was playing together or separately.

Miller, in particular, was having a breakout season in his third year. He already set a career high in rushing touchdowns when he got his third in Week 6 against Green Bay. The 23-year-old averaged more than five yards per carry in three of the first four games and ran for a career-best 108 yards on 15 carries in Week 3 against Kansas City

ESPN's Matthew Berry, who always puts a fantasy spin on things, was encouraged by Miller's potential as a lead running back in Miami's offense after Moreno got hurt:

The former fourth-round pick was certainly living up to that hype early in the season. He was on pace for 200 carries and more than 1,000 yards, both of which would be career highs.

Now, with the Dolphins on their third-string running back, the rest of the offense led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have to step up. Running has been the team's strength this season, but you can't lose two talents like Moreno and Miller then expect to keep averaging 130 yards per game on the ground.

If Tannehill ever wanted to prove himself as the future leader of Miami's offense, this is his moment. He hasn't taken advantage of the opportunity before, so this could be his last chance.
