NFL Power Rankings: Week 7 Standings Based on Latest Super Bowl Odds
Power ranking NFL franchises continues to be a fickle process each and every week. After a fair amount of teams delivered some big surprises in Week 6—albeit, not all were in a positive manner—there have been some major adjustments to the league's pecking order once again.
So, how did the New York Giants' goose egg affect their status? Where are the suddenly surging Cleveland Browns ranked after dismantling the Pittsburgh Steelers? How did a rare tie between the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers shake things up?
The answers to these questions lie with the updated standings heading into Week 7 of the season. Before we get to the rankings, here's a quick glimpse at how Super Bowl odds were altered by this past week of action on the gridiron.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars

Here's the thing about the Jaguars: Yes, they are the worst team in the NFL right now, but they also appear to have a very bright future with Blake Bortles at the helm. This team isn't built for wins just yet, but with a couple more high draft picks to fill some holes, Jacksonville will finally begin to trend upward.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Perhaps the Buccaneers' performances against the Steelers and New Orleans Saints were outliers more than anything. Allowing four touchdown passes to Joe Flacco in the first quarter is not the way to move up in the league's pecking order.
30. Oakland Raiders
Kudos must go to the Raiders for a nice showing against the San Diego Chargers in Week 6. Derek Carr appears to be getting used to quarterbacking an NFL team, and that's a great sign. Still, this team is too many players away from becoming any kind of contender, and this tweet from SportsCenter reflects that notion:
"Raiders join Jaguars as only winless teams in NFL. Oakland has lost 11 straight games dating back to last season. pic.twitter.com/hCZ8g1VQBK
— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) October 13, 2014"
29. Washington Redskins
Will the real Kirk Cousins please stand up? This quarterback has produced a roller-coaster ride through five appearances this season. He'd showed some more flashes in Arizona, but then turned around and delivered one of the worst interceptions we've seen this season while attempting a late-game drive. Washington's future at the quarterback position may not be currently residing on the team.
28. New York Jets
The Jets gave a valiant effort against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, but Peyton Manning and Co. proved to be too much to handle. The latest issue with this team—aside from quarterback play—is its inability to dominate in the trenches. Denver dominated on both fronts in Week 6.
27. Tennessee Titans
Well, the Titans earned their second win of the season; however, it was against the hapless Jaguars. Running back Bishop Sankey couldn't get going against a weak defense, and Charlie Whitehurst has been average in the absence of the oft-injured Jake Locker. Making matters worse, the team may be without Locker for another week, via Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean:
Meanwhile, the team's defense hasn't fared much better, as the secondary allowed Bortles to surpass the 300-yard mark through the air.
26. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings offensive line barely even showed up on Sunday. Rookie signal-caller Teddy Bridgewater was tormented throughout the game, being hit 12 times, sacked eight times and picked off thrice. Defensively, Minnesota is average, and that's not a good sign considering the shape of the team's offense.
25. St. Louis Rams

At first, it looked as through Austin Davis would lead his team to a big win over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football—and then the first quarter ended. The 49ers dominated the game from there and another late Davis interception resulted in another loss for St. Louis.
24. Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta's defense has been torched by practically every opponent it has faced this season. That trend continued in Week 6, as it allowed a total of 478 yards of offense to the Chicago Bears. The fact that Matt Ryan and Co. couldn't keep pace with Jay Cutler's squad is a big cause for concern.
23. New Orleans Saints
Let's hope Sean Payton, Drew Brees and Co. figured something out during their Week 6 bye, because the Saints have been one of the league's biggest disappointments this season. The team's offense isn't clicking and its defense doesn't resemble a shadow of its 2013 form.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh just hasn't been good this season. Losing by a score of 31-10 to the Cleveland Browns in Week 6 solidified that notion. The Steelers defense couldn't find an answer for a well-balanced Browns offense, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Co. didn't find the end zone until well into garbage time.
21. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins had the Green Bay Packers on the ropes in Week 6, but they just couldn't stop a red-hot Aaron Rodgers. Making matters worse, the team announced Tuesday it will be without running back Knowshon Moreno for the remainder of the season, via Miami's official Twitter account:
Things just aren't looking up in Miami right now.
20. Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City has been improving steadily throughout the season. A Week 6 bye was necessary for head coach Andy Reid to get a strategy together before a difficult divisional contest against the Chargers in Week 7. Hopefully his strategy revolves around getting the ball into Jamaal Charles' hands more often.
19. Buffalo Bills

Buffalo's defense was torched by Tom Brady on Sunday. Kyle Orton was average once again and proved he's only a short-term fix at the quarterback position. This team's defense has a solid front seven but is chock-full of holes in most other departments.
18. New York Giants
After spending three weeks as one of the NFL's hottest teams, the Giants reverted back to their early-season ways in Week 6. The offensive line was terrible, the defense couldn't contain LeSean McCoy and making matters worse, wide receiver Victor Cruz was lost for the season, via ESPN's Adam Schefter:
It won't get any easier in Week 7, as the Giants travel to Dallas to take on the red-hot Cowboys.
17. Houston Texans
The Texans showed some nice resilience against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, coming back from a big deficit to lose by just five points. However, Andrew Luck torched the team's secondary and Ryan Fitzpatrick just isn't good enough to keep pace with better teams. Houston better be doing everything in its power to keep Arian Foster healthy.
16. Chicago Bears
Following two straight late-game meltdowns, the Bears put it all together in a victory in Atlanta. Cutler was efficient, Matt Forte looked in top form and Chicago's defense fared well against Ryan. Now, the Bears must show something they haven't so far this season: Consistency.
15. Cleveland Browns

Brian Hoyer has been surprisingly efficient this season, and he's complemented by a solid running game that gives the Browns a nicely balanced offensive attack. Cleveland's defense has started to play better recently and looked solid against Pittsburgh in Week 6. The Browns should not be taken lightly.
14. Seattle Seahawks
After trouncing the Packers in Week 1, the Seahawks haven't looked nearly as dominant as they did in 2013. This telling tweet from Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated sums up Seattle's recent showings:
Sunday featured quarterback Russell Wilson's second home loss in his young career, as Seattle didn't match up well against the Cowboys. This team must prove it's better than average when it faces the Rams in Week 7.
13. San Francisco 49ers
We finally saw a better performance from Colin Kaepernick on Monday night; however, the team's inability to generate any significant yards on the ground against a bad St. Louis run defense was rather concerning. A win is a win and the 49ers are now 4-2 on the season, but the team has yet to produce any convincing victories.
12. Green Bay Packers
Rodgers is slinging the ball nicely of late, and that generally equates to wins for the Packers. The team's defense has begun to step up, and now Green Bay must put it all together in an effort to move further up these rankings. A Week 7 contest against the Panthers should be a nice test.
11. Carolina Panthers

It's been a turbulent season for the Panthers, but Cam Newton finally showed his ability to lead an offense as a dual-threat quarterback, leading to a tie against a good Bengals team. Still, the lack of a running game (aside from Newton) and a suddenly weak defense raises some concern.
10. Arizona Cardinals
The return of Carson Palmer was huge for this team in Week 6, resulting in a win over the Redskins. Palmer showed no signs of rust, throwing for 250 yards and two touchdowns. This offense is dynamic once again, and combined with a solid defense against the run, could remain atop the NFC West for the long haul.
9. Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore's offense heated up once again in Week 6 after a sluggish Week 5 against the Colts. When Flacco is on point, the Ravens have a well-balanced attack, as running back Justin Forsett has been a revelation in the team's backfield. We'll see if this team can remain hot against the Falcons in Week 7.
8. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are still barely clinging to the top spot in the AFC North after a short game-winning field goal was missed by kicker Mike Nugent, resulting in a tie. Cornerback Adam Jones wasn't too pleased with the end result:
Cincinnati's offense continues to roll—even without A.J. Green on the field—but its defense must improve quickly if we are to see this team in the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.
7. Detroit Lions
The Lions defense may be one of the biggest surprises this season. This unit has been spectacular to this point, and a brilliant Week 6 showing against the Vikings may have been its best to date. This team proved it can win without Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush in action, which is a scary thought going forward.
6. Indianapolis Colts

While defense still remains a bit of a concern for the Colts, this team has one of the league's best offenses when it's clicking. Luck is on pace for a huge season, and the emergence of Ahmad Bradshaw out of the backfield has led to more balance. We should prepare for a big shootout in Week 7 with the Bengals coming to town.
5. New England Patriots
After two very impressive showings by Tom Brady, we can officially say the Patriots fixed their offensive woes. With an improved defense, New England has become a well-rounded team on both sides of the ball. However, Sunday's victory came at a high price, via Pro Football Talk:
This is a veteran team with a very good head coach. The Patriots should be able to pick up the pieces.
4. Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia's offense has been its bread and butter since the arrival of head coach Chip Kelly, but the team's defense was fantastic against the Giants on Sunday night. The Eagles held New York to zero points and just 253 yards while McCoy finally got his feet under him on offense. If that upward trend on both sides of the ball continues, this will be a team to be reckoned with.
3. Denver Broncos
Manning continues to roll over opposing secondaries, and another three touchdown passes in Week 6 puts him just two more scores away from tying Brett Favre's all-time record, according to Around the NFL:
With so many weapons at his disposal, and a defense that is performing better than it did in 2013, the Broncos are making a case to be Super Bowl bound once again.
2. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers are still one of the strongest teams in the league despite struggling against the Raiders on Sunday. With Philip Rivers under center and the Darren Sproles-like Branden Oliver in the backfield, this offense continues to soar. However, the team's secondary must right the ship quickly after a poor Week 6 showing.
1. Dallas Cowboys

Dallas has officially moved all the way up to the league's top spot after a convincing win in Seattle in Week 6. The Cowboys have begun to focus on the run, and that has worked out very nicely for both DeMarco Murray and Tony Romo.
Murray has eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in each contest this season, while Romo continues to show an increased level of effectiveness and efficiency from the quarterback position. This offense is really clicking right now.
Increasing Dallas' threat to the league is its surprising defense. This unit may not have many big names or look good on paper, but the on-field product has been way better than advertised—especially after holding the Seahawks offense to just 206 total yards and one touchdown.
