Texas A&M Football Recruiting: Latest Update on 2015 Commits, Visits and Targets
The Texas A&M football coaches have one of the top recruiting classes in the nation committed for 2015. If the Aggies are able to land a couple of their remaining targets, they will have a chance to end up with the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the country on national signing day.
If the Aggies sign all of their current commitments, they will have done a good job addressing most of their major needs. There are still some holes that need to be filled at linebacker and in the secondary, and the Aggies could also use an extra pass-rushing defensive end in the class.
There are still three months left in the high school football season, so there will be multiple prospects who will jump onto the Aggies' radar. The Aggies currently have 19 commits in their 2015 class and will likely add four or five more players by national signing day.
This is a look at the latest news on the Texas A&M commits and targets in their 2015 recruiting class.
Commits on Offense

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and his staff have done a tremendous job of landing verbal commitments from some of the top offensive players in the country.
In quarterback Kyler Murray, the Aggies have a verbal pledge from the top offensive player in the state. Murray has passed for over 1,000 yards while leading Allen High School to a 3-0 start on their season. He is well on his way toward writing himself into the lore of Texas high school football.
Baseball is still a viable threat to Murray ending up at A&M. He was an Under Armour All-American as a junior, and if he is selected high in the 2015 MLB draft, then he will have to decide between playing football and baseball for A&M or a million dollar payday.
The big news for the Aggies is that Cedar Hill wide receiver Damarkus Lodge is reopening his recruitment. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the Aggie coaches have to consider other options at the position.
Commits on Defense

The Aggies have an excellent defensive class committed. They look good along the defensive line and in the secondary. Where they need some help is at linebacker, where the Aggies have a huge need for depth.
They have three linebackers committed in Landis Durham, Richard Moore and Riley Garner. Ideally they would add two more linebackers to the class to give them five total and a nice influx of talent for the 2015 squad.
The Aggies have four defensive backs committed, including three safeties. Justin Dunning leads that group and he will be the most physically imposing safety on the team when he arrives in Aggieland.
The Aggies need to sign at least one more cornerback in the class. Deshazor Everett will graduate after this season and De'Vante Harris is a junior. They need to keep the pipeline full with talented cornerback prospects.
Offensive Targets and Visits

In a perfect world, the Aggies would pick up one more offensive lineman, a wide receiver and another running back in the 2015 class. They need another guard in the class and are still pursuing Texas commit Toby Weathersby. Even though he has made a verbal pledge to Texas, Weathersby has said that he plans on taking all five of his official visits, per Jason Suchomel of Rivals.com (subscription required).
According to Brice Jones from TexAgs.com (subscription required), national wide receiver recruit Christian Kirk enjoyed his official visit to Aggieland during the Rice game. Kirk would give the Aggies one of the top receiving classes in the nation if he commits.
The Aggies have offered Jacques Patrick from Orlando, Florida at running back. He took an official visit to A&M during the Rice game, but most expect him to end up at Florida State.
Soso Jamabo from Plano West High School in Plano, Texas is a running back that the Aggies are watching. The Aggies have not made a push for Jamabo, and there is some concern that his 6'3", 210-pound frame would be beter suited for linebacker than running back in college.
Jamabo has rushed for 604 yards and is averaging 13.4 yards per carry through the first three games of the 2014 season. Do not be surprised to see the Aggies push for him in November and December.
Defensive Targets and Visits

The Aggies need to add another cornerback, linebacker and ideally a pass-rushing defensive end to this class. James Lockhart is a solid prospect, but he projects more as a strong-side defensive end in college than your typical weak-side end in the 4-3 scheme.
The top prospect left on the Aggies' recruiting board right now is outside linebacker Malik Jefferson from Poteet High School in Mesquite, Texas. Jefferson could start at outside linebacker for the Aggies as a true freshman in 2015.
He is the No. 1 recruit in Texas and a national top-10 prospect. Jefferson recently attended the UCLA-Texas game in Arlington. Texas and Baylor are thought to be the Aggies' main competition for Jefferson. As it stands, he only has an official visit set up to Ohio State right now.
The Aggies are after Kendall Sheffield, Holton Hill and Kris Boyd at cornerback. Depending on how the numbers work out at other positions, the Aggies may only accept one more commitment at cornerback. Defensive backs coach Terry Joseph may take the first to commit from that group and call it a day.
