Georgia Football Recruiting: Latest Updates on 2015 Commits, Visits and Targets
The Bulldogs may have lost to South Carolina last Saturday, but that doesn’t mean their goals are out of reach. They will need to keep working to stay in the race for the SEC East while preparing for 2015 and beyond.
And that means they need to be on top of their game when it comes to recruiting. As of right now, the Bulldogs have 21 commitments for the 2015 season, including Trent Thompson who is one of the 10 best players in the country, according to 247 Sports.
But the Bulldogs aren’t done yet. If they want to continue to contend in the SEC, they have to keep working to get the best players in the state and the best players in the country. So here are the latest recruiting updates for Georgia.
Darius Slayton Looking Hard at UGA
1 of 5
One of the Bulldogs' top targets plays right in the metro Atlanta area and is considered one of the best receivers in the country.
Darius Slayton plays at Greater Atlanta Christian, and he already has two game-winning touchdown receptions in the early stages of his senior season.
According to Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Slayton is looking hard at Georgia as well as Auburn. He is also looking at other SEC schools like South Carolina and LSU.
Slayton can also play cornerback, but because of his size (6’2’’, 182 pounds), he will be better suited to be a receiver at the collegiate level.
Bulldogs Becoming a Dark Horse for Tarvarus McFadden

Nabbing Trent Thompson is big for the Bulldogs, but getting a guy like Tarvarus McFadden would also be pretty significant as well.
The 5-star recruit (via 247 Sports) from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been considering UGA over the last few weeks, according to Carvell.
McFadden, who plays cornerback at American Heritage High School, visited Athens for the UGA-Clemson game, and he seemed to enjoyed himself. But he also made the trip to Athens to visit his former teammates Sony Michel and Isaiah McKenzie.
McFadden will pick among UGA, LSU, Ohio State, Florida State and Central Florida.
Jayson Stanley Suffers ACL Injury
3 of 5
Injuries are a tough thing for a college player to go through. But for a senior high school player, it’s devastating because you always want to finish your high school career strong.
UGA commit Jayson Stanley will have to miss his entire senior season at Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia, because he tore his ACL and went though knee surgery on Friday, according to Carvell.
Stanley is a 4-star wide receiver who helped Creekside win the state title last season. He tallied 56 catches for 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns. He’s an explosive target that the Bulldogs need once Malcolm Mitchell and Josh Harvey-Clemons leave Athens.
A Real-Deal Offer from Bulldogs

Another explosive player the Bulldogs are going after is Elijah Holyfield, the son of boxing great Evander Holyfield.
The Bulldogs offered the running back from Atlanta earlier in the month, and he told Rusty Mansell of 247Sports (subscription needed) that Georgia will be one of his final schools when he gets ready to make his decision.
Holyfield is a 4-star recruit who has 566 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns through the first three games of the season for Woodward Academy. He is also looking at Ohio State and Michigan.
Terry Godwin to Alabama?
5 of 5
Terry Godwin was one of the Bulldogs first commits, but he has been spending a lot of time at Tuscaloosa lately.
The 5-star athlete from Hogansville, Georgia was there this past weekend for the Alabama-Southern Miss game and was really impressed with Crimson Tide receiver Amari Cooper, according to Charles Power of 247Sports (subscription needed).
This was the second trip to Alabama in the last month for Godwin, but that doesn’t mean he will be flipping his commitment any time soon. He told Power that he’s 100 percent committed to Georgia and will be signing with them in February.
