UFC Fight Night 51 Main Card Betting Odds and Predictions
UFC Fight Night 51 hits Brazil Saturday for your viewing pleasure.
Heavyweights Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Andrei Arlovski cap off the event in a bout that should not go the distance. If there is a fight on the card that screams "finish," this is it.
Five more bouts line the main card with No. 10-ranked contender Jessica Andrade welcoming Larissa Pacheco to the UFC in an exciting women's bantamweight encounter.
This is not the best offering the UFC has ever given the fans, but it should at least be entertaining. The picks and plays are here to give you more information to work with before heading off to make your bets this weekend.
Let's take a look at the main card for UFC Fight Night 51.
All odds courtesy of Odds Shark.
Jessica Andrade (-105) vs. Larissa Pacheco (-125)
1 of 6
Pacheco makes her UFC debut Saturday, and expect some excitement in her fight.
She enters 10-0 in her professional career with 10 finishes. That seems to be why the oddsmakers give her a slight edge in this bout.
However, I struggle to pick a fighter who hasn't fought the upper echelon and is making her debut. There are too many questions. That is why I favor Andrade in this fight. She has been tested inside the UFC and has looked on point in recent bouts.
At the current odds, whomever you feel more confident in is worth a shot. I just favor Andrade's proven abilities.
Prediction: Andrade
The Play: Odds make either a decent play
Iuri Alcantara (-300) vs. Russell Doane (+230)
2 of 6
I think Russell Doane is a live dog in this fight, as he can be a tough out, but I'm not sold on playing him at plus-230.
I just like Iuri Alcantara more.
Alcantara has looked stellar at times and like a potential contender other times. He has the complete package, and fighting at home should make him look even better. However, at minus-300 I wouldn't advise laying down on him in a tough matchup.
There isn't value here, but keep an eye on what could be Fight of the Night.
Prediction: Alcantara
The Play: Skip the matchup
Santiago Ponzinibbio (-105) vs. Wendell Oliveira (-125)
3 of 6
Wendell Oliveira is on a seven-fight win streak, and Santiago Ponzinibbio is coming off a loss to Ryan LaFlare.
I am not confident in picking Ponzinibbio in this matchup, but at least I've seen him against top-15 caliber competition. And that is my main reason for picking him—if that tells you anything.
Unproven talent is not what I would advise laying down on.
I would not be shocked to see Oliveira continue his winning ways, but you can just take a peak at his overall record to see he hasn't been challenged in recent times. How will he react to joining "The Show" of the UFC? Too many questions. Just sit back and watch.
Prediction: Ponzinibbio
The Play: Skip the bout
Leonardo Santos (-210) vs. Efrain Escudero (+170)
4 of 6
Efrain Escurdero returns to the UFC with a 4-1 record in his last five bouts.
If you recall, Escudero is one of the biggest busts from The Ultimate Fighter. And he returns to battle Leonardo Santos who has not lost a fight since 2009.
Escudero has all the raw abilities to win, but he has never looked great in competition. He is just too risky to pick or play. I like Santos in this fight, in his home country. However, Santos' recent competition leaves a lot to be desired.
That is why I don't recommend playing this fight.
Neither fighter is a sure thing, but I'll take Santos as Escudero has burned me too many times to trust him.
Prediction: Santos
The Play: None
Gleison Tibau (-225) vs. Piotr Hallmann (+185)
5 of 6
The co-main event may be one of the most intriguing fights on the card.
Piotr Hallmann has done quite well inside the Octagon with wins over Francisco Trinaldo and Yves Edwards, But Gleison Tibau is one of the most consistent performers inside the Octagon, which is why I believe Hallmann will win.
Tibau will be too predictable against the well-rounded Hallmann.
At plus-185 there is some good value for Hallmann in this contest. I say take a shot.
Prediction: Hallman
The Play: Take a flier on Hallmann
Antonio Silva (-450) vs. Andrei Arlovski (+360)
6 of 6
This heavyweight main event should provide you with an exciting finish one way or the other, but I would not expect an exciting back-and-forth fight.
Andrei Arlovski's chin is always a huge question, but Antonio Silva is not the greatest at avoiding strikes himself. Arlvoski has enough power to turn off the lights if he connects flush, and that is why I don't mind taking a shot on him at more than 3-1 odds.
But I expect Bigfoot to win.
He's the better fighter and has to tag Arlovski only once. Bigfoot wins.
Prediction: Bigfoot
The Play: Throw a small amount on Arlovski just in case
