Michael Floyd Injury: Updates on Cardinals Star's Fingers and Recovery
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd underwent surgery after he dislocated three fingers on his left hand at practice on Aug. 5. Josh Weinfuss of ESPN reported on Aug. 26 that Floyd was out of his cast as he walked through the team's locker room.
He was active for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.
Head coach Bruce Arians said on Friday that Floyd would be a game-time decision, but he expressed optimism about his chances, per Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com. The wideout was equally hopeful, saying "I think I can. It's all mental," according to Urban.

Floyd Undergoes Surgery on Injured Fingers

Floyd posted a message on Instagram to update fans on his status after his surgery:
Rapoport initially reported the fingers were broken, which would have put him in jeopardy of missing the beginning of the season. However, Kent Somers of AZCentral Sports reported at the time Floyd was expected to be out for the next three-to-five weeks, as the injury was less serious than anticipated.
Dr. David J. Chao of NationalFootballPost.com said that a three-to-five-week prognosis was optimistic, as the wideout wouldn't have the pins out until four weeks into the process.
Michael Chow of the Arizona Republic provided a photo of Floyd leaving practice on Aug. 5:
Many expected Floyd to join the elite ranks in 2014, which didn't happen, and now his attempt to do so in 2015 has been temporarily put on hold.
The Notre Dame product has all the tools necessary to be one of the league's dominant pass-catchers, though he's failed to break out and overtake Larry Fitzgerald as the most feared weapon in Arizona.
Floyd took a big step forward during his sophomore campaign in 2013, as he made 65 grabs for 1,041 yards and five touchdowns. He essentially doubled his rookie production, and another huge leap forward was anticipated the following season. But he finished 2014 with 47 catches, 841 yards and six touchdowns.
While some of that regression can be attributed to his injuries and quarterback Carson Palmer's torn ACL, it's fair to say Floyd hasn't turned a corner like the team expected him to after he eclipsed 1,000 yards in 2013.
