English Premier League Fantasy Football: Club By Club
Following on from my July preview, here's a look at who to watch as a possible signing from each of the clubs
Arsenal - If Arshavin stays in the same 7 pts/game bracket as last season then he'll be a good replacement for Ronaldo to go alongside Lampard and Gerrard as superstar midfielder. But generally Arsenal players are overpriced for a team that's struggling to hold onto 4th-best status.
Aston Villa - Ashley Young is also a contender for 3rd superstar midfielder. He gets plenty of points from taking set pieces, and may get to take even more now Barry's gone. But I feel Villa players are overpriced after punching above their weight last season.

Birmingham City - defensively as solid as any non-top-4 team, Birmingham should be a good source of clean sheets. Hart should be good for one of your keepers, especially if he also gets to take the penalties. Of the defenders, I reckon Dann is the one to pick. I'm also interested in their strikers, but would want to see which are playing regularly before signing any of them.
Blackburn - I'm not very much tempted by any of this lot. Maybe Emerton, who's been classified as a defender and is cheap but can score goals.
Bolton - Steinsson and Cahill are definite possibles as cheap goalscoring defenders. Taylor is a contender for 4th midfielder, and Elmander is affordable as a striker who'll be a bargain if he can recapture his past (pre-Premiership) form.
Burnley - they did well against Premiership teams in the cups last season, so should not be written off. But with the fixture list the way it is, you should wait till mid-September before signing any Burnley player. Alexander is the standout choice as a cheap goalscoring defender.
Chelsea - Lampard is a must. Of the rest, Zhirkov is the only one I'm tempted by in case he gets to play midfield rather than defence.
Everton - like Villa and for the same reason, most Evertonians are overpriced. But for some reason Neville isn't, and looks great value for your 5th midfielder. The other possible bargain is Jo, though even at 7.5m he's a little expensive for my strategy.
Fulham - I don't think their defence will be as good as last year, but Dempsey and Murphy seem fair value for 4th/5th midfielders.
Hull - nobody. I'd love to be wrong but I see no sign of Hull being turned round from the whipping boys they became in the 2nd half of last season.
Liverpool - what an easy run of early fixtures! Gerrard is a must anyway, and if you scrimp and save elsewhere Skrtel may be affordable.
Manchester City - nobody really fits into my strategy. In my opinion they need a new manager.
Manchester United - nobody. O'Shea and Evans would be good value if they play regularly, but Ferguson has the annoying habit of rotating his team.
Portsmouth - nobody. Like Hull, I reckon they're sunk.
Stoke - really spoilt for choice here, it's just a shame you're only allowed three of them. Sorenson looks the ideal cheap goalkeeper. Shawcross and Faye are cheap goalscoring defenders. In midfield, Whelan and Lawrence and Delap are all tempting. And Beattie and Fuller are both good value strikers.
Sunderland - nobody at this point, as I guess several 1st-team players have not yet been signed.
Tottenham - competitively priced in all departments. I could be tempted by Woodgate, maybe also Lennon or even Bentley if he recaptures his pre-Spurs form.
West Ham - a bit overpriced like Villa and Everton. Possibly Tomkins in defence if he's playing regularly.
Wigan - nobody at this point, as per Sunderland.
Wolves - I think they'll struggle, but up front Ebanks-Blake looks phenomenal value at only 5.5m.
