Is NASCAR Reading Bleacher Report?
I have often wondered if NASCAR actually reads Bleacher Report.
Published articles have made their ways to major media outlets like ESPN, Yahoo, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal.
When a writer watches his or her article count take off like the space shuttle, it's hard not to be curious of who is actually reading their work.
The NASCAR community has to be the most diversified writers ever assembled.
Every week we're entertained by Creature vs. Creature, or, Winners and Losers. Slipped in between those weekly's are breaking news articles, humor, race re-caps, opinions, editorials, driver interviews, rants and the occasional slide show.
With this vast amount of diversity in publication, how could NASCAR not read at least one article?
Well, I am pretty sure they might have read at least one.
Several weeks ago I wrote an article on how bankruptcies and the economy were having adverse effects on NASCAR.
A press release today on NASCARmedia.com announced that Kurt Busch, David Stremme and Sam Hornish Jr. would be test driving specially designed NASCAR Smart cars in the parking lot of famed Soldier Field.
Other stand outs will include media celebrities such as Dan Patrick and NFL Hall-of-Famer Dan Hampton.
Drivers will drive fuel-efficient smartfortwo cars through a number of "challenges" on a miniature road course to raise awareness for ways consumers can save fuel during the busy summer driving season.
The event is in advance of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
Media in attendance will also have a chance to sample the Matchbox like smartfortwo cars, and drive them through the make shift road course.
The press release went on to say that Sam Hornish Jr. would drive a special No. 77 Mobile One Advanced Fuel Economy Dodge for Saturday’s LifeLock.com 400.
I feel the information contained in this article has answered the question posed in the beginning.
NASCAR does in fact read Bleacher Report.
But, now there are other, more pressing questions to be answered.
If Saturday’s race comes down to fuel mileage, does Hornish Jr. have a decided advantage with the Advanced Fuel Economy Dodge?
If Kyle Busch wins on the make shift road course, will he smash the specially designed NASCAR smartfortwo car and share the pieces with his fans?
For the answers to these questions and more, go to the South parking lot of Soldier field on July 10, between 12-1:30 p.m.
