Not Quite Boise State Breaking News: But Close Enough to Report #5
It was push come to shove when Boise State and its Western Athletic Conference “WAC” presidents (nine in all) finally agreed to BCS terms, along with the team presidents of the Mountain West Conference.
Until Wednesday morning, the two non-BCS conferences were holding out, with high hopes that others would back them.
Didn’t happen!
The majority of the BCS monopoly is content with their inflated bankrolls, so don’t expect miracles to happen here even over a few years.
Roughly speaking, the only way the system can really change is for the MW and WAC to start kicking BCS butt on a regular basis—getting into the BCS prime time Bowls, and demolishing BCS teams at every given opportunity.
Then, a favorable addendum can be written. Boise States president Bob Kustra believes the agreement with the BCS as it stands can be “modified from within.”
Good luck!
Albeit, the BCS might want to rewrite things as it were (and most likely before 2014 when the current agreement ends) should the BCS busters start doing more than busting.
OK, we all can blame the WAC—heck, they have been the scapegoats for years now, but the time to get serious about a conferences direction has been laid out. It's time for BCS busters to schedule as many BCS non-conference showings as possible, and eventually that tree will bare fruit.
Well Gene what do you think—Will it be Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida State, Wisconsin, possibly Cal or UCLA for the Broncos 2010 and 2011 season? What BCS teams will complete the Bronco schedules?
It is time for the Broncos to fatten the purse and start pursuing that national title. Of course, a National Championship cannot be had without a certain amount of luck (BCS star losses), but it can be had.
Go WAC—Go Mountain West, but assuredly, go Broncos.
A New Bronco 2010 Commit?
Boise’s CBS 2 and the Idaho Statesman have reported that 6’3 safety/tight end Kyle Sosnowski from Capital High School has committed to be a Bronco. This report seems valid as Capital High coach Todd Simis addressed the issue for CBS 2.
Still, it does not appear to be something that Coach Pete would do at a tight end position (not a scholarship anyway)?
Unlike what Murphy of the Statesman reported, if Sosnowski is going to be a playing Bronco he would seem to get more time at safety especially at 6’3. The Statesman promised more on this story in Thursday’s paper. We’ll see.
Until then, that’s another story (or was it two?).
