Why Michigan Will Win at Least Nine Games this Year
Okay, so we know everyone has heard this before and has read what the newspapers are saying and all. However, I can tell you it’s all probably not true because they just write that to amuse the fans.
Well I have some facts on why I think Michigan will win at least nine games this year.
First of all, there are ten starters returning on offense, including possibly the best running back in the nation, Brandon Minor.
Secondly, the whole offensive line returns, and, from what I've read they're up for the challenge this year to step up.
Thirdly, we have a freshman quarterback in Tate Forcier who is one of the most accurate QBs in the nation. Now we all realize that he is a freshman and will make mistakes. But I believe he will be unlike other freshmen and hopefully make less mistakes. After all, he comes from a football family.
Michigan should be one of the most improved offenses in the nation, led by Brandon Minor and Tate Forcier.
Now on to the defense, which gave up a lot of yards last year. I don’t expect them to be nearly as bad as last year, but I expect better as well as everyone else.
First, we have a new defensive coordinator in Greg Robinson, who has extensive college and NFL experience.
Remember the 2005 defense at Texas? OK, OK, you may not.
Anyway back to Michigan, they hired the new DC, and his goal is to be the best tackling team in the nation. Anything’s possible right?
Well we return one of the best Defensive Ends in the nation in Brandon Graham, who has 70 tackles in his career, and 30 of those behind the line of scrimmage. If that's not promising, I don’t what is. I expect him to have a huge year.
The D-line should be better with tackle Mike Martin returning. Incoming freshman Will Campbell shows promise if he can get into shape.
At linebacker, we have Obi Ezeh returning, as well as Jonus Mouton, and J.B. Fitzgerald should help out too.
In the secondary, we have Donovan Warren and Boubacar Cissoco. At cornerback, those two should have a solid year.
At safety we have Troy Woolfolk who will move to safety this year. He's fast and physical. Hopefully, he should provide some depth along with Stevie Brown.
At free safety, there's a battle between redshirt freshman Mike Williams and freshman Vladimir Emilien. I believe Mike Williams will win the job. The coaches say he's one of the most physical safeties around. If he hits you, you're going to know about it.
Overall, I think the schedule fits in well. We should expect a 4-0 start by October First, and then a loss to Iowa and Penn State and Illinois. Finally, an upset over Ohio State at the end of the season should provide excitement along with a New Year's Day bowl.
So please leave your comments. I'd like to know what you guys think. How Michigan will do this year?
