Dwayne Roloson…Edmonton Oiler Free Agent
There is a good chance that when training camp opens up in September the Edmonton Oilers who missed the playoffs this past season could be without their team MVP. Despite being offered a one- year deal worth three million Dwayne Roloson who posted a 28-24-9 record with a sparkling 2.77 GAA decided to test the free agent market. Roloson who is a 12- year veteran has spent time with the Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild and Oilers in what has been a solid NHL career. As an Oiler he will always be remembered for his 2006 spring- time heroics when he posted a 12-5 record and a 2.33 GAA in helping the Oilers come within one game of winning the Stanley Cup. With Roloson now officially a free agent general manager Steve Tambellini expressed his desire to select a younger free agent goalie. Meanwhile in a bit of surprising move Tambellini didn’t try to sign forward Ales Kotalik who they acquired at last seasons trade deadline from the Buffalo Sabres. In 19 games as an Oiler this eight- year veteran scored 11 points. “He’s never received an offer, so it’s pretty straightforward,” agent Larry Kelly said about his client testing the free agent market.
