NBA Finals Schedule 2014: Live Stream and TV Info for Game 2 of Spurs vs. Heat

While the San Antonio Spurs will be looking to knock off the Miami Heat in Game 2, the heat should no longer be a problem.

By now, everybody knows about how the air conditioning went out during Game 1 on Thursday night.

According to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press, the AC was back up and working on Friday:

While that was kinda fun for a little bit, it would be a shame if that continued to be a lingering problem going into Game 2. You want a series of this magnitude to be played in optimal conditions, and that includes having an arena that isn't 90 degrees courtside.

This isn't the 1980s, when Larry Bird played in the Boston Garden and the temperatures were so hot the water in the arena was being vaporized like in Batman Begins.

This is 2014, and athletes condition very differently now.

Few players suffered more from the heat than LeBron James, who had to be carried the last few feet to Miami's bench when he exited the game in the fourth quarter.

That led to endless Internet memes by people who probably need to take five minutes after they stub their toes.

No sane person would criticize James for coming out of the game, because his body was clearly breaking down on him. You see it in Ironman competitions all the time.

He said on Friday that continuing to play only would've exacerbated the problem, per Bleacher Report's Ethan J. Skolnick:

James' health will be one of the ongoing storylines heading into Game 2. With Friday and Saturday to recover, he should be ready to go at tipoff.

Miami will certainly need him. The Spurs were a massively different team when the four-time MVP was off the floor near the end of the game, per ESPN Stats and Info:

The good news for the Heat is that James' teams generally make a quick recovery after a Game 1 defeat:

Of course, Miami's problems went deeper than just LeBron's cramps.

As a team, San Antonio shot 58.8 percent from the floor and 52.0 percent from three-point range.

Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter each missed only one of their field-goal attempts. Tony Parker dropped 19 points and eight assists. Danny Green and Manu Ginobili had 13 and 16 points apiece.

The real star of the game, though, was Boris Diaw. Although he only scored two points, he had the highest plus-minus rating of any player (plus-30).

ESPN.com's Kevin Pelton broke down what the veteran forward did so well:

"

Thursday's virtuoso performance saw Diaw utilize both skill sets. While he wasn't a factor as a scorer, Diaw grabbed 10 rebounds, his fourth time all season in double figures (two of them coming in the past four games). He also tied his playoff high with six assists, and committed only one turnover in 33 minutes on a night where the Spurs struggled to hang on to the ball.

Diaw's six assists led to a combined 16 points, all of them on either 3-pointers or layups. He set up Danny Green's first two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter when Green finally found the range. And, as if that wasn't enough, Diaw reprised last year's role defending LeBron James when Kawhi Leonard rested.

"

Diaw has been a major difference-maker for the Spurs so far this postseason. He's another shooter who can stretch the floor, and as Pelton pointed out, even when that isn't working, Diaw finds a way to impact other areas of the game.

With Duncan and Diaw, the Spurs can move the ball so well across the court. The Heat were chasing ghosts trying to keep up with San Antonio's offense.

Figuring out how to neutralize Diaw will be one of Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra's biggest tasks ahead of Game 2. If he can negate the Frenchman, that would eliminate a key cog in the Spurs offense.

This series is far from over, of course, and LeBron's Game 1 would be easily forgotten with a transcendent performance in Game 2.
