Cleveland Marathon 2014: Route, Course Map, Times, Event Details
The Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon is an event that caters to casual runners competing for a cause and with loved ones. It also serves a purpose for the serious marathoner who hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
There's a little bit there for everyone.
The 2014 version takes place on Sunday, May 18 at 7 a.m. ET. Per The Plain Dealer, about 20,000 runners will take part in the event across a full and half marathon and a 10K race.
Here's deeper information regarding the event.
The Route, Map and Weather
The start line is at Public Square, with the finish just outside Cuyahoga County Courthouse on Lakeside Avenue.
The track is a flat and fast surface. This is possibly what makes the race an attractive event for those looking to qualify for Boston. The fact that it occurs in mid-May, when Midwest temperatures can still be mild, only helps the runners as well.
The official Twitter account for the race retweeted this weather forecast from AlphaSig335:
Without having to negotiate intense heat from the sun, or a ton of humidity, runners should be able to produce impressive times.
Per the official race website, in 2013, Philemon Terer was the fastest man. He finished with a time of two hours, 17 minutes and 37 seconds.
The fastest woman was 23-year-old Sarah Kiptoo. She won the women's race with a time of 2:33:42.

Rock 'n' Roll at the Finish Line
It wouldn't be the Rock 'n' Roll capital of the United States without music.
At the finish line, there's the 26.3 Mile Rock Party, which will feature live music, a DJ, food, refreshments and a beer garden.
The festivities are open to the public and take place at Mall C on Lakeside Avenue at 8:30 a.m.
A marathon is a reflection of the community. As it should be, at the culmination of the Cleveland Marathon, there's a celebration that perfectly reflects the best of Cleveland's culture.
Cleveland rocks.
