Masters 2014 Leaderboard: Latest Scores and Standings from Day 4 at Augusta

Tim KeeneyApr 13, 2014

All eyes will be on 20-year-old Jordan Spieth as he attempts to become the youngest player ever to win the Masters, but the field is about as wide open as possible with 18 holes to play.

Spieth is tied with 2012 winner Bubba Watson atop the leaderboard at five-under, while seven more players are just three strokes behind or less.

As if Spieth's presence at the top didn't make Sunday's action compelling enough, the wide array of contenders—in the top seven, there are players in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s—makes for what figures to be an unforgettable final round at Augusta.

Let's take a look at the updated scores and leaderboard as the potentially historic Sunday unfolds.

Updated Leaderboard

With Spieth's unbelievable meteoric rise to the top—he was outside the top 800 just 16 months ago, per ESPN's Justin Ray—and Watson's captivating personality—big driver, never had a golf lesson—the final group is one of the most highly anticipated pairings in quite some time.

The youngster talked about being a part of the last duo to tee off, via Masters.com's Tom Spousta:

"

It’s a dream come true, to be in the final group, to just kind of see what it’s like. I don’t think I’ve ever had a round where I’ve been nervous on every single swing, shot and putt. I’m sure that will happen tomorrow, but hopefully I can channel it positively and stay grounded, stay cool and see what happens.

"

Well, it's pretty much a dream come true for those witnessing it, too.

As Golf Central pointed out, Jack Nicklaus became the youngest player to win the Masters in 1963. Seventeen years later, Seve Ballesteros beat his record. Again, 17 years after that, Tiger Woods donned the green jacket at 21 years of age.

Well, here we are, 17 years after Woods' win, with a chance for Spieth to top them all.

Win or not, this has been a special showing by the youngster. And what's so amazing is that he isn't the only potential massive story, as CBS Sports' Kyle Porter noted:

Fred Couples, who entered Sunday four strokes behind the lead in a tie for 10th, would be the oldest player ever to win the Masters at 54. Miguel Angel Jimenez (two shots back), who is 50, has the same opportunity.

Of course, Jimenez's eccentricity—long hair, smokes cigars before rounds, wild stretching routine—would make him a truly entertaining winner. Just imagine this image, via Sports Illustrated's Alan Shipnuck, at the Champions dinner:

Then you have Westwood, who has earned the unwanted moniker of best "pretty good player who has never won a major," as BBC Sport and Justin Ray noted:

Throw in Masters rookie Jonas Blixt, and that's five potential history-making wins (Spieth, Blixt Couples, Jimenez, Westwood) without even mentioning Watson, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler and Jim Furyk, all who would serve as memorable champions.

Buckle up. The final 18 holes are going to be scintillating.
