Team USA Players to Watch
Nick Ruffin, CB, Auburn
As far a defenders go, Nick Ruffin is a name fans will hear for quite some time.
Ruffin was the No. 10 overall cornerback in 247Sports' composite rankings and is set to take his talents to Auburn to provide immediate help in the secondary for the Tigers.
At 6'0.5" and 180 pounds, Ruffin has the size to come up and be a force in the run game and has the athleticism to stick with most receivers in coverage.
With Chris Davis headed to the NFL, Ruffin could very well be on his way to a starting gig for the Tigers. His journey starts now, and he is a name to watch thanks to his flashy plays not normally seen out of a defender.
Kyle Berger, OLB, Ohio State
Kyle Berger is another top-10 defender, as he was the No. 10 outside linebacker recruit at 247Sports before electing to take his talents to Ohio State.
Ohio State consistently churns out quality, pro-ready linebackers, so it should come as no surprise that the Cleveland native chose to stay local.
Berger is the definition of a playmaker at 6'3" and 215 pounds. He recorded 44 total tackles and 10 sacks in 2012 alone, which shows a strong ability to snuff out the run and to put pressure on quarterbacks.
A jack of all trades, fans should watch for Berger as he will likely be routinely flustering Canada's signal-callers.
Saeed Blacknall, WR, Penn State
Defensive stars abound, but the U.S. has some offensive firepower, too.
The No. 21-ranked wideout at 247 Sports, Saeed Blacknall is a prototypical NFL receiver. He stands at 6'3" and weighs 210 pounds, which he pairs with stellar 4.45 40-yard-dash speed to create a complete package sure to take the collegiate world by storm.
Blacknall brought in 40 receptions for 743 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2012. He does an outstanding job of using his body to beat defenders to the ball's highest point, which makes him an ideal red-zone target.
Expect Blacknall to have a massive game.
