Full Preview for WWE Main Event Featuring Curtis Axel and Miz

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 8, 2018

Welcome to your weekly spoiler-free preview of WWE Main Event. Here, you will get a rundown of all of the matches set to take place and the possible repercussions.

Main Event is likely to see some cooling down following Tables, Ladders & Chairs and Raw. We have taken in a lot in the past few days, and Main Event is the show that lets us decompress and watch a few matches without any major focus on feuds.

Christmas is right around the corner, which means WWE is beginning to feature Mick Foley in a Santa suit, and Wednesday night will see the return of Foley Claus to the squared circle.

But that's not important right now. What is important is the matches that will take place. Well, maybe you should be the judge of whether or not these matches are of any importance to anyone.

Let's take a look at the matches scheduled for the show.

Xavier Woods and R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal

It would appear as if WWE is going to keep Truth and Woods as a team for the time being, which is probably best for everyone.

Woods has been twiddling his thumbs in developmental for a long time, and bringing him up to the main roster was a "Now or never" kind of situation.

Truth has been up and down throughout his entire WWE run. This team could help both men stay relevant until WWE finds something better for one or both of them.

Mahal and McIntyre, along with Heath Slater, have upped their game in the offense department in recent months, but they aren't featured enough for the casual fan to notice their improvements.

This match should allow all four of these talented performers to let loose and have some fun. All of their gimmick involve singing and dancing, so expect some kind of ridiculousness to occur before, during or after the match.

This should be entertaining and at least a little fun. Hopefully enough time is given to them to make sure it doesn't appear rushed.

AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn

AJ and Kaitlyn had a feud that lasted several months over the Divas title, and now Kaitlyn is so far out of the picture that she is facing AJ on Main Event in a match that likely won't last more than four or five minutes.

It's too bad WWE went from hero to zero with Kaitlyn, because she really does have more to offer than just being stronger than most Divas. She and AJ had some good matches, and hopefully this match gives her the chance to remind the people in back that she has value.

If Kaitlyn wins then she will probably get a title shot soon, but if AJ wins then it just hits the point home that WWE doesn't believe in Kaitlyn anymore.

This match could go either way. If they have a decent amount of time we might get a good match, but there is a possibility that this could be nothing more than filler.

Curtis Axel vs. Miz

In another chapter in Miz's strange, half-hearted heel turn, he will be taking on another heel in Curtis Axel.

This is another match that could go either way. Axel and Miz are both good competitors, but we haven't seen them enough to know how they'll work together in the ring.

Ryback will likely be in his partner's corner, which means Axel has the added advantage of having someone to do his dirty work for him while the ref isn't looking.

This whole show is hard to gauge. There is potential for a fun show with the three matches we have, but there is also the potential for a flop.

No one match sticks out as the front-runner for match of the night, and none of them are likely to outperform what we have already seen this week on Raw.

That's it for this week. Which match are you looking forward to seeing the most?
