Power Ranking Every Tag Team in WWE Right Now

Aaron BowerDec 9, 2013

With the tag team division in a touch of disarray at the moment—given that the champions are not booked in a match for a pay-per-view that is just six days away—it seems an appropriate time to take a look at the entire division.

There are plenty of pairs who could, with a touch of momentum, force their way into the reckoning to perhaps fight for the championships at some point.

Let's take a look at them all by power ranking the entire tag team division in the WWE.

From the champions down to the tag teams that time may most likely forget, here they are.

In the interest of accuracy, only teams that have been teaming together (or at least appear to have been doing so) for a significant period count on the list.

10. 3MB

1 of 10

There is nowhere else to start except at the bottom, which nicely brings us to 3MB.

Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre—when they take sporadic turns to team with each other—foot up this list. There was no other real alternative to take the esteemed bottom spot.

Whether they are appearing in repackaged gimmicks to fit the arena or area in which a show is being taped, or whether they are just getting beaten cleanly and fairly by some of the WWE's most forgettable characters, 3MB is without doubt the worst team in the division.

Sorry guys, but it had to be you.

9. Tons of Funk

2 of 10

Just ahead of 3MB are the horrifically named Tons of Funk.

In all fairness, Tensai—or Sweet-T, Albert, A-Train, whatever you want to call him—is no stranger to the tag division, teaming with Test back in the Attitude Era.

Unfortunately, he and Brodus Clay are not destined for greatness as a duo. Clay's little push he had when he first appeared under his new gimmick quickly evaporated, as did the Tensai push.

Last week on Raw, they were reduced to losing to R-Truth and Xavier Woods—with a Clay heel turn being teased in the pipeline.

Their days look doomed as a pairing, and that is why Tons of Funk are so close to the bottom.

8. Los Matadores

3 of 10

It's never really a good sign when the most famous aspect of your tag team is the small animal mascot you bring to the ring with you every week.

That is the fate that has befallen Los Matadores, who haven't really adjusted in their character shift from Primo and Epico too well.

Big things were expected, and the WWE teased it on screen for several weeks in the buildup to their debut.

Sadly, though, it just hasn't happened.

7. Ryback and Curtis Axel

4 of 10

Sometimes in life, you have to give credit where credit is due.

Despite them being in their infancy as a tag team, Ryback and Curtis Axel could actually solve each other's problem as a team—not enough airtime.

In the past week, they have knocked off The Miz and Kofi Kingston before springing a shock by actually beating the champions on SmackDown on Friday.

Could Ryback and Axel be heading for gold as a team? Perhaps. However, they rank low on this list partly due to their shelf life as a tag team.

They are certainly one to watch, though.

6. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper

5 of 10

Erick Rowan and Luke Harper are often seen on screen teaming together as a pair, whilst Bray Wyatt demonically watches on from ringside in his rocking chair.

They actually look to have some decent chemistry in the ring together. Both brutal, towering competitors, they have produced some smart matches against some of the WWE's top tag teams.

So why don't they rank any higher? Well, despite being a tag team with promise, it does look like they will be too concerned with the affairs of Bray Wyatt to be looking toward the tag team gold at the head of the division.

5. The Usos

6 of 10

It's quite remarkable that, despite their in-ring action and popularity with the crowd, The Usos have never lifted the tag team titles.

They are a team you consistently enjoy watching, and they will always produce exciting wrestling whenever they compete.

They're slightly hamstrung at this moment in time, given that the champions are a face team like themselves.

When the time comes for a heel tag team to own the gold, Jimmy and Jey could well be thrown into the mix for the belts once again.

4. Prime Time Players

7 of 10

Like The Usos, the Prime Time Players are another team that has bizarrely not held the belts.

It almost feels like Darren Young and Titus O'Neill have been around the block for a good few years, yet it is only recently they have been experimented with as a face tag team.

Titus is one Superstar who seems to have it all, and his in-ring ability is matched by the ability to cut an entertaining promo or two.

As a team, they work excellently well together. It would be a shame if we didn't see these two lift some form of gold at some point in the WWE.

3. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns

8 of 10

Former champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns may not operate as a team for much longer, but they have certainly brought a touch of distinction back to the tag team division.

Long-term champions of the division, they were a mixture of technical superiority and pure abrasive power—a good pairing for any aspiring tag team.

When they dropped the belts to the Rhodes Brothers, it almost felt hard for creative not to keep the rivalry going, but The Shield has since been embroiled into other battles, most recently CM Punk.

Whatever happens to the stable in the future, there is no denying that Rollins and Reigns were excellent for the health of the division.

2. The Rhodes Brothers

9 of 10

It may seem strange to not have the champions at the top of the list, but things are becoming a bit tricky for the Rhodes Brothers at this moment in time.

Knocked off twice in the space of a week—and without a booking for the pay-per-view at the time of writing—it is a peculiar scenario to find the tag team champions in.

Goldust is arguably in the form of his career and looks to be in the kind of physical condition he was 15 years ago.

Cody has thrived since his face turn too, and hopefully they will continue to be heavily involved in the tag division for a time to come.

However, a brotherly feud at WrestleMania could be in the pipeline, leading to a potential split.

1. The Real Americans

10 of 10

If anyone is going to take the belts off Cody and Goldust, it surely has to be The Real Americans.

They have come from seemingly nowhere to right at the front of the queue in my mind to be challenging for the gold, with Antonio Cesaro impressing hugely.

That patented swing move is becoming a real hit with the crowd, and Jack Swagger is no mug in the ring—as his reign as World Heavyweight champion demonstrates.

Throw the controversial yet enjoyable Zeb Colter into the mix as their manager, and you really do have something good going on.

With the team not yet booked for TLC, could its time to take gold be now?
