John Cena vs. Randy Orton Announced for TLC

Following Randy Orton's win over Big Show at Survivor Series, the WWE champion was confronted by World Heavyweight champion John Cena. The leader of the Cenation held his title high in the air as if to challenge The Viper. The challenge officially came down on the ensuing Raw, and Triple H announced that both world titles would be suspended above the ring in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match between Cena and Orton at TLC.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will This Lead to Unification?

As soon as Cena interrupted Orton's celebration at Survivor Series, the Internet was abuzz with talk of a unification match. Triple H's announcement would seem to suggest that unification is on the horizon, but it is far from a guarantee. Triple H said during an interview with Michael Cole on WWE.com that he wanted there to be one world champion in WWE, however, he stopped short of calling it a unification match. In fact, the word "unification" wasn't used at all on Raw. The announcers were very careful to say that one man could walk away with both titles rather than saying that they must.

With that in mind, it seems fairly obvious that TLC will end in a convoluted and unsatisfying manner. Either Cena and Orton will grab the same titles that they entered with or they will swap titles, with Cena becoming WWE champion and Orton becoming World Heavyweight champion. When push comes to shove, it appears as though this match is nothing more than a vehicle to make the transition to Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season.

Ring Rust Radio's Take

In terms of match quality, there is no question that Cena vs. Orton in a TLC match will be something special. Say what you will about Cena's in-ring ability, but he tends to rise to the occasion in big-match situations. Also, Orton is a good enough hand in the ring to carry Cena at certain points if he needs to. As good as the match may be and as important as it may look on paper, however, it ultimately isn't going to make a major impact.

It is abundantly clear that the WWE brass knew that the Survivor Series card was weak, and it also knew that it needed to advertise something big in order to eradicate the bad taste from the mouths of the fans. Perhaps it accomplished its goal since those who have been clamoring for unification are excited, but those same fans will be sorely disappointed when TLC reaches its conclusion. Ending another pay-per-view indecisively is dangerous considering what happened at Battleground a couple months ago, but it would be shocking if either Cena or Orton exited TLC with both straps.

Reviewing Survivor Series

Most hardcore fans had already made up their minds regarding the quality of Survivor Series before it even happened. After all, it's very difficult to get excited for a pay-per-view that is headlined by Orton vs. Big Show. There were a few moments of in-ring brilliance sprinkled in at the event, but the bad clearly outweighed the good, and the vast majority of those who ordered the pay-per-view probably regretted it at the end of the night.

Question on Everybody's Mind: What Grade Did Survivor Series Deserve?

As poor as Survivor Series was, it's still important to discuss what was good about the event. There is no question that the five-on-five Traditional Elimination match shined brighter than anything else on the card. It opened the pay-per-view, and it was all downhill after it ended. All 10 Superstars involved in the match did a great job, but the highlight was unquestionably the showcase of Roman Reigns. The Shield's most powerful member tied a record with four eliminations in one match, and he ended up being the sole survivor after spearing Rey Mysterio in half.

It will be interesting to see if Reigns' performance will strengthen The Shield as a unit or rather start its dissolution should Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins become jealous of Reigns' success. If nothing else, it should make for a great midcard storyline moving forward. Aside from Reigns' performance, however, there weren't many positives to take away from Survivor Series.

Ring Rust Radio's Take

Unfortunately, Reigns couldn't save Survivor Series on his own. The World Heavyweight Championship match between Cena and Alberto Del Rio was decent as far as the in-ring work went, but it was beyond predictable. It made no sense for the creative team to transition Damien Sandow out of the title scene because a triple threat would have made things far more interesting. Instead, there was absolutely no mystery surrounding the match.

Many had high hopes for Daniel Bryan and CM Punk vs. the Wyatt Family, and while it wasn't a bad match by any means, it barely moved the needle. Bray Wyatt hardly made his presence felt outside the ring, and there was no storyline advancement until the next night on Raw. Worst of all, Orton and Big Show failed to impress in the main event. There were "boring" chants throughout, and it's tough to blame the fans for feeling that way. Cena's appearance certainly didn't save it, and it can be argued that it made the entire situation even worse. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Survivor Series deserved an F for failing to live up to its "Big Four" status.

RRR Interview with WWE 2K14 Developer Bryan Williams

After a successful outing with WWE 13 last year, there was plenty of excitement surrounding the release of WWE 2K14 this year. With WWE's video game license going from THQ to 2K Sports, expectations were through the roof. The game has been on the market for a few weeks, and reviews have been very favorable. WWE 2K14 developer Bryan Williams joined Ring Rust Radio to discuss the success of the game as well as what we can expect in the future.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Should I Buy WWE 2K14?

There is no question that investing $60 in a video game is a dicey endeavor for many, so it's important to know for sure that it's a quality game before buying it. There were a lot of challenges that could have possibly prevented WWE 2K14 from reaching its potential. Williams discussed the transition from THQ to 2K Sports as it occurred in the middle of development. He said that he and his co-workers had no idea whether or not they would be retained, but luckily they were, and it allowed them to finish what they started.

The transition was also a big challenge in terms of time constraints. The 30 Years of WrestleMania mode is arguably the game's biggest feature, but Williams was worried about whether they might have to cut parts of it or eliminate it from the game completely. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the development team, however, they were able to take the necessary measures to finish and include it.

Ring Rust Radio's Take

The Attitude Era mode in WWE 13 received a ton of praise, and this year's 30 Years of WrestleMania mode has been similar in that regard. It allows gamers to play out the most important and impactful matches in WrestleMania history, and it is truly the premier feature of WWE 2K14. In addition to that, customization has taken a big step forward. Gamers can now create 100 wrestlers rather than 50, and the Superstar Heads feature allows gamers to use the template of an existing wrestler in the game and edit them to look however they desire.

That along with Create a Belt mode and improvement to Create an Arena mode make WWE 2K14 the most customization-friendly wrestling video game in years. WWE 2K14 is a must-buy video game, but there is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the future of the franchise as well. WWE 2K15 will almost certainly be available for the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and Williams admitted that full customization is something that he hopes makes a reality in the near future. Until that happens, though, WWE 2K14 is more than worthy of your attention.

Final RRR Season 3 Fantasy WWE Standings

1. Donald Wood: 292.5

2. Mike Chiari: 167.5

3. Brandon Galvin: 60

4. Michael Cahill: -15
