Juventus Transfer Rumours and Tracker: Week of November 25
Juventus are on the verge of stepping up their level from domestic powerhouse to legitimate contender in the Champions League.
Without being at their best in Serie A, the Bianconeri are sitting on top of the pile, but their European form has been far from impressive.
Without a win in their opening four matches of the group phase of the Champions League, the Old Lady's progression to the knockout stage has been complicated.
If Antonio Conte can struggle through to the last 16, then Juve can be a dark horse, especially with the addition of some signings in the January transfer window.
This will also help the Mister to rotate the squad and maintain their domestic supremacy and a third consecutive Scudetto.
Here are the latest news and rumours from Turin.
Updated Friday 29 November
Nani, Manchester United
1 of 10
Juventus look to reignite their interest in Manchester United's Nani in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese international looked to be on his way this summer, but stayed to fight for his place under David Moyes.
Football Italia report that a loan offer in January will be submitted to the Red Devils, for a player that has struggled to find any consistency in his form.
Signing Nani would allow Conte to further develop the transition towards a 4-3-3 with a natural wide player to make the new system feasible moving forward.
Liverpool Considering Giovinco
2 of 10
Liverpool look to be readying a bid for Juve's Sebastian Giovinco, according to Sport Direct News (via Forza Italian Football).
A bid in the region of €12 million could tempt Juve to sell a player that has found it tough to command a regular place in the side since his move from Parma two seasons ago.
Giovinco's miniature frame might suggest that he would struggle to adjust to the rigours of the Premier League, but his close control and willingness to dribble the ball could work perfectly by the same token.
Giovinco's Italy future looks bleak without regular first team opportunities and a move in January to the reds might provide him with the chance to make a late dash for a spot in the World Cup squad.
Jeremy Menez, PSG
3 of 10
Jeremy Menez has been linked with a move to Juventus from French champions PSG, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Forza Italian Football).
The French international has found it tough to fight off fierce competition in Laurent Blanc's side and may feel that he deserves to be a star player in a side given his performances whenever he plays.
Having previously enjoyed a decent spell at Roma, a move to Juventus could appeal with the prior Serie A experience.
It is just another sign also that Conte is looking to acquire talent that can enable him to switch between the 3-5-2 formation and a 4-3-3 system.
Anthony Martial, Monaco
4 of 10
Juventus are looking to bolster their ranks with the signing of Monaco starlet Anthony Martial.
Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri (above) will be keen to hold on to one of France's brightest young prospects, but the Bianconeri have set their sights on the 18-year-old.
According to La Stampa (via Forza Italian Football), Juve have made a loan offer for a player that Les Rouge et Blanc only signed from Lyon last summer.
The forward has come on to the Old Lady's radar after a string of fine performances for France's youth sides and Juve may feel they can offer a faster route to first team football with just one appearance so far this season for Lyon youth product.
Kevin De Bruyne, Chelsea
5 of 10
Juventus appear to be monitoring the situation surrounding Chelsea's young Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne.
Tuttosport (via Forza Italian Football) report that the Blues will be prepared to let the 22-year-old depart temporarily in January in order to give the former Werder Bremen player an opportunity to better prepare himself for the World Cup.
The Bianconeri could be prepared to step in and take De Bruyne for the remainder of the season, with the likelihood that he would offer an extra wide option, or give Antonio Conte a further option to switch towards a 4-3-3 formation.
De Bruyne has played for Chelsea in the Champions League, meaning that he would only be eligible to play for Juve in Serie A or the Coppa Italia.
Vidal Close to Extending His Contract
6 of 10
Arturo Vidal is set to sign an extension to his current contract, committing his long-term future to Juventus.
The Chilean revealed that he is ready to sign and that a deal could be imminent after Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League victory over Copenhagen.
Vidal revealed to Mediaset Premium (via Forza Italian Football): "I am close to signing a contract renewal with Juventus. I am happy to stay here and I am only waiting to sign."
This is superb news for the Bianconeri, who have arguably seen the 26-year-old develop into one of the best centre-midfielders in the game over the past two years.
PSG Considering Pogba Move
7 of 10
PSG appear to be read to make a sensational swoop for Paul Pogba next summer, according to Quotidiano Sportivo (via Forza Italian Football).
Les Parisiens could show their ambitions by making a stunning move for the best young player in French football.
Mino Raiola will prove to be the deciding factor, and the super agent holds all the cards, with Juventus looking to insert a new buy-out clause to safeguard their prized asset.
Pogba's rise to the top of Italian football has been incredible since his free transfer from Manchester United.
If Juventus want to be legitimate contenders for the Champions League once more, keeping world class talents such as Pogba will be imperative.
Tim Krul, Newcastle
8 of 10
Tim Krul has been linked with Juventus after superb form for Newcastle in the Premier League.
Gianluigi Buffon is the undisputed No. 1 goalkeeper at the Juventus Stadium. However, his form has suffered of late.
The challenge—or lack there of—from back-ups Marco Storari and Rubinho has meant that the Azzurri No. 1 has taken his place for granted and let his excellent level slip somewhat.
The signing of Krul would represent immediate competition with an eye on the future, too. The 25-year-old has an outstanding future, both at club level and internationally with the Netherlands.
The Sun (via the Mirror) claim that the Magpies intend to slap a £20 million price tag on their prized asset in a bid to ward off the interest from the Bianconeri.
It appears strange that Juve would look for a goalkeeper in the medium- to long-term future, as Nicola Leali, who is on loan at Spezia this season, has shown a bright future with the Azzurrini.
Interest in Krul could suggest that Buffon's future with Juve is less than secure.
Juan Mata, Chelsea
9 of 10
Juventus are somewhat lacking the guile and imagination in the final third to blend a formidable midfield and a very good attacking partnership.
Chelsea's Juan Mata has come on to Juve's radar, with the Spaniard's future with the Blues somewhat in doubt due to a lack of first-team appearances since Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge.
With a place in the Spanish squad for the World Cup potentially in jeopardy, Mata could jump at the opportunity to move in January to secure a ticket to Brazil next summer.
The Sunday People (via the Mirror) report that the Old Lady face competition from Atletico Madrid, with both clubs aiming to prize away the 25-year-old on a temporary basis in January.
It would be an outstanding acquisition for Juve, although his involvement in Chelsea's Champions League campaign thus far will mean that he will be ineligible to take part for them should they negotiate their way past a tough group.
Signing Mata would test Conte's tactics once more, with Mata neither a striker or a centre-midfielder, the 3-5-2 would need to be tweaked somewhat in order to obtain the best out of him.
Juve to Ward off Interest in Paul Pogba
10 of 10
Juventus look to tie down their star midfielder Paul Pogba by warding off interest from rival clubs, who may have registered an interest in the Frenchman because of his outstanding form over the last couple of months.
It appears as if Pogba wants to remain in black and white, at least for the moment, and his agent Mino Raiola would happily prompt his client to extend his current contract, providing that there were a buyout clause inserted.
The Express report that the super agent will insist on a figure as much as £53 million, which would also be satisfactory for the Bianconeri, who would benefit hugely should a club be prepared to pay that clause, as the 20-year-old originally signed on a free transfer from Manchester United.
Pogba will have no intention of disrupting his development yet, as Conte is bringing out his outstanding potential and gradually increasing his responsibility in the side.
A club of Juve's stature can feasibly help Pogba reach every ambition he has, meaning that the player is likely to remain in Turin for the foreseeable future.
