Marco Reus Transfer Rumours: Latest News on the Borussia Dortmund Star
As we approach the final month of another glorious year of football, the Christmas break and all that follows in January beckons each club around Europe as they prepare for another month of transfer speculation.
This week we take a look at Dortmund's boy wonder, Marco Reus, who will undoubtedly find himself on most shortlists across the continent this January as one of Germany and Europe's hottest prospects.
Although coach Jurgen Klopp will do everything in his power to ensure another wonderkid doesn't go missing at the Westfalenstadion next year, anything can happen in the January transfer window—especially when big clubs with big offers are involved.

Manchester United

In a press conference on November 29, David Moyes hinted yet again that his side will look to bring players over the January transfer window if they are of the right Calibre. This proved enough for the Independent to run a story the following day linking Marco Reus with the English champions.
On the same day, the Times broke news(subscription needed) that Manchester United had sent Steve Round, Moyes' assistant manager and Jimmy Lumsden, a chief coach, to watch Reus battle Napoli in last week's Champions League clash. The Mirror also ran with the story.
The Daily Star continued its campaign for the young prodigy's move to England on November 11, yet this time the new story had a third party involved: Manchester United.
The Guardian then ran with a similar story the following day in their weekly Rumour Mill piece, asking their readers to gauge how likely the move would be—with two-thirds suggesting it would never happen—yet instead of mentioning all three EPL sides, they opted to stick with just Manchester United as the key suitor.
The Guardian also suggested that Reus' release clause was, in fact, only £30 million and that David Moyes was willing to send Shinji Kagawa, a former player at Dortmund, the opposite way to sweeten the deal.
The Daily Mail then followed suit the very next day on November 13, its story suggesting that the minimum amount to pry Klopp's favoured forward was, in fact, now £29.4 million and again suggested that Manchester United were resigned to letting Kagawa move back to Germany.
The Mail online also suggested that the Manchester club were tempted to make it two-for-one with an offer for Ilkay Gundogan as well, along with a number of central midfielders from across the continent.
Manchester City and Arsenal

As is ever the case for a player of Reus' talent, the rumours began circulating the British national press rather early on in the year.
The Daily Star was the first to link the forward with a move to the English Premier League on August 9, with this story, suggesting that despite Manchester City's obvious interest, the German international was far too integrated at Dortmund to consider a move.
Yet that didn't seem to put off the paper's hunt for a story as they then published another article two months later on October 2, stating that Arsenal had now joined the race to sign the Dortmund winger.
The story itself was no more than a few quotes from Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, protesting that the player was at the club for the long term in an interview with German daily Bild, yet it was the first time that Marco Reus' minimum fee release clause—quoted as £34 million—had been published in the British press.
PSG and Barcelona

Although the wires on any potential transfer for the Dortmund forward have gone particularly cold this week, we were able to dig up some former rumours from across the continent that may, despite their age, prove rather significant in deducing whether Reus will leave in the January transfer window.
On October 27th, popular French website L'Equipe ran with a story(French) summarizing PSG's transfer targets for the coming transfer window according to their own sources. Chelsea's Juan Mata, Bayern's Arjen Robben and Schalke's Julian Draxler were all mentioned, yet it was the Dortmund forward that struck the most attention from the Parisian publication.
Then, on November 17th the infamous Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo linked Reus with a move to none other than Barcelona in this story(Spanish) by Javier Gascon. The reporter briefly mentioned interest from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern but spoke specificlally about the Catalonian club's interest in picking up the player through means of buying out his clause.
