WWE Survivor Series 2013 Matches: Contests That Will Exceed Expectations
Survivor Series weekend is finally upon us and as WWE prepares for this event, fans are likely waiting in eager anticipation. The reason for this is due to the fact that many of WWE's fans are somewhat disappointed with the overall quality of the last two pay-per-views so now, the company has a chance to redeem itself.
Four of the matches involve three titles and one feature two of the hottest Superstars in the company right now. The WWE and World Championships will be on the line as Randy Orton and John Cena each defend their belts. Newly crowned Intercontinental champion Big E Langston will be facing former titleholder Curtis Axel, and CM Punk will be teaming with Daniel Bryan against The Wyatt Family.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The effort on WWE's part seems to be there, at least on the surface. However, with much of the card seemingly being booked at the last minute, concern among fans is evident and is growing.
Will Survivor Series deliver? And if it does, which matches will stand out? For me, there are three bouts that could ultimately steal the show and exceed fans' expectations.
The Rhodes Brothers, The Usos & Rey Mysterio vs. The Shield & The Real Americans
This match could hands down be the best one of the night. In the only traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team match booked for the event, WWE's four best teams and a returning Superstar are set to collide. And I have no doubt that it will be everything that fans expect it to be.
On one side of the ring you have Cody and Dustin Rhodes, quite possibly the hottest duo since The Shield. Since both men were rehired by Triple H, The Rhodes Brothers have been on a great run that has seen them win the WWE Tag Team Championships.
For Cody, it has meant a rise in popularity as he has arguably never been bigger in the fans' eyes than he is right now. For Goldust, it has meant a return to the business he loves and to the fans who have embraced him like very few expected. These two are obviously having a blast and it shows every time they're in the ring.
Jimmy and Jey Uso are the definition of excitement. Rikishi's twin sons bring the intensity and the fun like no other tag team in the company and have established themselves a must-see duo. They have tremendous crowd support and when they perform, they give everything they have to fans and Survivor Series will be no different.
Rey Mysterio may be the veteran of this group but make no mistake about it; he is still very much loved by the WWE faithful. Rey is a legend in the company, a man who has given a lot to the business over the years and who still has something to offer in the ring. The youthful energy of his partners will surely rub off on him and we could see Rey have a great night at Survivor Series.
Standing on the other side of the ring is The Shield, a unit who know a thing or two about entertaining on a high level. In fact, since their debut a year ago, that's all Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have done. They are now very accustomed to the main event spotlight and will surely deliver on November 24.
The Real Americans have really hit their stride as of late. Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro have gelled as a tag team and with Zeb Colter as their mouthpiece, they have definitely carved out their own niche in the company. They are more than capable of holding up their end of the deal at Survivor Series and will likely give fans their money's worth on that night.
CM Punk & Daniel Bryan vs. The Wyatt Family
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are arguably the two hottest Superstars in WWE today. Punk's reputation for delivering top quality main event matches is well known and his popularity with fans is at an all-time high. All Punk has to do is show up and he's over. Getting in the ring and putting on five-star matches is just another day at the office for him.
Daniel Bryan's star may be newer, but he is just as effective. Bryan has the crowd support that was built during his program with Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. And that support was not only earned, it is well deserved. Daniel can get it done and then some in the ring, and he will bring that energetic intensity to Survivor Series.
The Wyatt Family is the complete opposite of Punk and Bryan in nearly every way. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper are not the ring technicians that their Survivor Series opponents are, but that makes little difference. They will bring their scary brutality to the pay-per-view and with Bray Wyatt sitting at ringside; the fact is anything can happen.
This match is one that could be just the beginning of a great rivalry for both sides. And I for one believe that we're in for an explosive night thanks to this bout specifically.
Randy Orton vs. Big Show: WWE Championship
Of all the matches currently booked for Survivor Series, this may be the one with the least amount of fan expectation attached to it. While I can understand some of the hesitation that exists, I believe that this bout will be much better than many fans expect.
The reason for that is because despite how many times Big Show has been counted out, he continues to deliver. In a storyline that began very well for him yet somewhat fell apart recently, Show still did an admirable job. After all, it's extremely hard for any fan to buy into the notion that Big Show had been fired, when he shows up on the Titantron and comes down the ramp with entrance music.
However, The Giant still got over with the crowd every time, and it's because he has that ability to connect that I feel he will more than carry his weight against Randy Orton.
Orton's ability to bring it on the main event level is well documented and Survivor Series will be more of the same. His ring work has never been in question, and he will surely give the crowd everything he has at Survivor Series.
This angle has tested Orton as the face of WWE, because every time he crosses paths with The Big Show, he ends up flat on his back. To me, he did not look this vulnerable for this long, in his rivalry with Daniel Bryan. Big Show is the right opponent at the right time, and I truly think that this match will be so much better than what many fans expect.
Survivor Series is WWE's next opportunity to wow fans. And I for one believe it has the potential to do just that.
