Examining Potential New Paul Heyman Guys

Aaron BowerNov 20, 2013

Paul Heyman is in an interesting situation at the moment with the WWE. The news is that Curtis Axel and Ryback are no longer "Paul Heyman guys"—leaving part-timer Brock Lesnar as Heyman's only client in the WWE.

F4WOnline—via WrestlingInc.comare saying that Heyman could be off TV until Lesnar returns for WrestleMania season, unless they find him someone new to work with.

The WWE roster is so crowded at the moment. There are surely guys who can benefit from being paired with Heyman. The WWE needs its No. 1 manager on TV—he does some great things and makes a lot of tapings more exciting.

Let's take a look at five potential guys Heyman could align himself with to bring the best out of him and the clients in question.

Wade Barrett

1 of 5

Wade Barrett is a big talking point amongst WWE fans. He still hasn't returned from his absence, and that could be for a number of reasons.

Perhaps one of them is that creative aren't really sure how to bring Barrett back. That seems strange, though, as they have a ready made gimmick for him with "Bad News Barrett."

If that gimmick needs a push, who better than Paul Heyman to help him promote it?

Barrett is still raw in terms of potential—it almost feels like he hasn't yet had that big break you need in the WWE.

Heyman would undoubtedly help Barrett out of the midcard and into the big time.

Damien Sandow

Like Paul Heyman, Damien Sandow is a guy who is in a slight bit of limbo at the moment.

It shouldn't have been like this. Right now, nobody would have begrudged him holding the World Heavyweight Championship. However, he came up short against John Cena after cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Could uniting with Paul Heyman put him back on track for the title? Since that failure to cash in, Sandow has been inconsistent on TV—he hasn't even really cut any of his superb promos. Probably because there is nobody for him to cut them on.

He should be feuding with John Cena, but creative are still persisting with the Alberto Del Rio route.

Sandow and Heyman as a duo would make for explosively good TV.

Mark Henry

His return is imminent, according to his official Twitter account, and Mark Henry and Paul Heyman would arguably make one of the most destructive pairings in WWE history.

Henry has been a transformed character in recent years—his "Hall of Pain" gimmick has been a nice addition to his heel character, and a solid run as world heavyweight champion did not disgrace the company one bit.

You would expect Henry to get a push upon his return—and a push with Heyman would certainly indicate the start of an interesting pairing.

The return of Lesnar, at some point in the next few months, could also create an interesting conflict of interest between Henry and Heyman. It could even set up another new storyline.

Dean Ambrose

4 of 5

Of course, this will only happen should the supposed split of The Shield occur.

If Dean Ambrose and Paul Heyman came together and joined forces, Ambrose would be catapulted into more main event storylines in quick time.

Ambrose is one of the most exciting talents on the WWE roster. He has impressed in his debut year as a member of The Shield with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

If The Shield split, each member will likely go in their own direction. However, you would expect Ambrose to remain a heel, as he really does play the character quite well.

That, of course, makes him a perfect fit for the best manager in the business.

The Miz

5 of 5

WWE's newest heel—well, newest in terms of his most recent turn—is a man who would benefit greatly from the management of Paul Heyman.

The Miz has won it all in the WWE, but as of this moment in time, his career has most definitely stalled. Perhaps his heel turn will open up some new avenues for him, but you can only imagine an immediate rivalry with Kofi Kingston, which is not the kind of push you need.

Heyman would transform The Miz's fortunes, without a doubt, and set him on the road to the top once again. Whatever you think of him, The Miz is one of the better workers in the WWE—his list of accolades proves it.

Somebody in creative liked him enough to pin the WWE Championship on him, after all.
