DA 1985 BEARS= DA BEST EVER
Simply DA BEST OF ALL-TIME! That's the only way I can describe the 1985 Chicago Bears. It's been nearly 25 years since the team that earned the nickname “Monsters of the Midway”, took the NFL by storm and made history that will never be forgotten. It's the team that made a Bear fan out of me and many others. Let's take a quick look back at two elements on what made this team one to remember.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
DA PERSONALITY:
The '85 Bears were filled with personalities that Terrell Owens and Chad OchoCinco would be jealous of. Whether it was a fiery Mike Ditka making a name for himself as a coach, or the “Punky QB “ in Jim McMahon that everybody loved or hated, Chicago boasted a larger than life persona that will live on forever.
However, the biggest display of the cocky but confident personality came on the Tuesday after the teams' only loss of the regular season against the Miami Dolphins . This was the recording of, in my opinion, the greatest video of all-time- The Super Bowl Shuffle. Who won't remember the rapping skills displayed by Hall Of Famers
Walter Payton and Mike Singletary. Who won't remember William “The Refrigerator” Perry saying:
“ You're lookin at the Fridge. I'm the rookie. I may be large but I'm no dumb cookie.” What about my personal favorite, Gary Fencik, getting down with the get down! Imagine some of the other great NFL teams doing this in their heyday. Could you honestly picture the 1972 Dolphins, 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers, 1984 San Francisco 49ers, or even the 2007 Tom Brady led New England Patriots doing a SuperBowl song and video weeks before the end of the regular season and actually winning the Super Bowl? Patriots coach Bill Belichick would love that! The Super Bowl Shuffle put on full display the plethora of personalities the '85 Bears had and still remember over two-decades later.
DA DOMINATION:
Chicago went 15-1 in the regular season and went on to win the Super Bowl for a reason. They dominated every facet of the game. Here few facts that illustrate my point:
14 of the Bears 19 opponents were held to 10 or fewer points. Four of them were shut out, including the Giants (21-0) in an NFC divisional game and the Rams (24-0) in the NFC title game.
Payton led the league in rushing with 1,551 yards and a 4.8 yards per carry average.
Defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan's trailblazing “46” defense sacked the quarterback 80 times, forced 54 turnovers; 36 of them were interceptions.
The Bears outgained their postseason foes by a margin of 1,023 yards to 434.
The Bear players perfected “Jerry Curl” look.
Maybe that last point is up for debate but, you get my drift. D did not only stand for defense, it stood for domination. I could go on all day about why this is the best team ever. There's no wonder why this team always comes up in that ever popular discussion of who's the greatest NFL team of all-time. They're why I became a Bears fan. They're always imitated but never duplicated. They're the '85 Bears.
