As bad as Manchester United have been in the Premier League, they still managed to win Group A, following a 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday. The Red Devils' form in the Champions League has been unaffected by their poor league form. Bayer Leverkusen sneaked into second place after a 1-0 win on the road to Real Sociedad.

Group B firmly belongs to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have dominated this group almost from start to finish, and are 10 points clear of Juventus in second place. Juve's match on Tuesday against Galatasaray was abandoned because of hail, per BBC News.

Both clubs will have to wait until Wednesday to figure out whom will finish second in the group.

Despite a 2-1 loss to Benfica on Tuesday, Paris-Saint Germain remain top of Group C. The French side finished three points ahead of Olympiacos. The reigning Greek league champions picked up a 3-1 win over Anderlecht, which meant they finished level on points with Benfica. Olympiacos had the better head-to-head record, so they earned the second spot.

There wasn't any real drama in Group D. Manchester City and Bayern Munich had already secured passage to the knockout stage heading into Matchday 6. The only thing in question on Tuesday was which club would have the top spot. Unfortunately for City, their 3-2 win in Munich didn't make up for that 3-1 drubbing at home to Bayern.

Sometimes, everything goes your way. Just ask Schalke. The German club progressed from Group E after a 2-0 win over Basel, with one of the goals scored from an offside position, per Bleacher Report UK.

Chelsea's win over Steaua Bucuresti meant they finished first.

Group F lived up to expectations, as it went down to the wire to figure out who would advance. Borussia Dortmund needed an 87th-minute winner from Kevin Großkreutz to grab a 2-1 win over Marseille. Meanwhile, Arsenal nearly capitulated in Naples, but a 2-0 loss meant the Gunners held onto second place in the group.

Despite losing 4-1 to Austria Wien on Wednesday, Zenit St. Petersburg finished second in Group G. It was the only place up for grabs, and any drama was lost when FC Porto went 2-0 down in the 37th minute to table-toppers Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona made quick work of Celtic to win Group H. Neymar had a hat-trick in the 6-1 win. AC Milan earned the second spot after a 0-0 draw against Ajax. It was a good result, as Milan were down to 10 men for over 70 minutes following Riccardo Montolivo's red card in the 22nd minute.

Manchester United and Real Madrid dominated their way to comfortable wins on Wednesday in the Champions League and both have guaranteed themselves a spot in the Last 16. Paris St. Germain, on the strength of a 2-1 win over Olympiacos, have also sealed their spot for the next stage.

Following Wednesday's results, Group A has become a lot clearer, with Manchester United through to the knockout rounds. Shakhtar Donetsk can still win the group with a win at United on Matchday 6, but will be more focused on maintaining their one-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen, who have the easier fixture at Real Sociedad.

Group B already knows its table-toppers with Real Madrid sitting pretty, but Juventus and Galatasaray are battling to join them. The duo square off on Matchday 6 with Juve only needing a point, but the Turks have home advantage. Copenhagen can still finish on equal points as the second-placed side but are out of the competition due to inferior head-to-head records.

In Group C, PSG will advance as group winners, leaving Olympiacos and Benfica to battle it out for second. The Greeks, who host Anderlecht on Matchday 6, only need to match the result Benfica pick up in their clash at home to PSG—courtesy of their superior head-to-head.

And in Group D, the major issue to resolve is who qualifies in first place. Manchester City need to better Bayern Munich's 3-1 result at the Etihad when they visit the home of the European champions. Viktoria Plzen can still earn a Europa League spot, but must beat CSKA Moscow by better than a 3-2 margin in their final game.

After Tuesday's eight fixtures, Group E comes down to a straight shootout between Basel and Schalke to join Chelsea in the Last 16. Basel only need a draw, while Schalke must win on home soil. Chelsea cannot be caught by the Germans by virtue of their head-to-head record.

Group F is complicated. Arsenal lead by three points, so a point in their last game at Napoli will suffice. That would also allow Dortmund to qualify at the Italians' expense, if the Germans match Napoli's result against Marseille in France.

If Arsenal lose to Napoli, and Dortmund beat Marseille, the three teams all finish on 12 points and head into a "mini-league," which is decided by the goal difference amassed in games involving the three sides.

Dortmund's goal difference in games involving Arsenal and Napoli currently stands at +1. That cannot change.

Arsenal's goal difference is +2, while Napoli are on -3. On that basis, only a three-goal win for Napoli would see them leap ahead of the Gunners to qualify with Dortmund.

In Group G, Zenit simply have to win at Austria Vienna to ensure Porto cannot steal second spot. Should Zenit fail to win, Porto can leapfrog them with a triumph at Atletico Madrid. A draw will be no good to the Portuguese, who have an inferior head-to-head against Zenit.

Group H is a straight shootout between Ajax and AC Milan, with the Italians holding the advantage. They are at home against the Dutch on Matchday 6 and only need a draw. However, victory for Milan could see them top the group if Barcelona are shocked by Celtic.
