Kemba Walker Loves Balling at Madison Square Garden
Coming into Tuesday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats, there was one man playing who Knicks fans feared above all: Kemba Walker.
Though he hasn't had much success in MSG as a pro (just 33 points in three games), New York fans watched Walker drop countless floaters and mid-range jumpers over the helpless Knicks defense in the preseason home opener.
Tuesday night, Kemba did not disappoint (or he did, if you are a Knicks fan). He torched the Knicks for 25 points on a wide variety of drives, cuts and pirouettes to the basket, vicious crossovers and high-arching jumpers.
Like any good showman, Walker saved his best for last, with this dagger over the outstretched arms of the Knicks' Kenyon Martin.
If the sight of Kemba Walker dropping last-minute shots at Madison Square Garden seems vaguely familiar, perhaps you're simply having flashbacks to Walker's legendary 2011 Big East tournament.
Tuesday's knockout performance should not have come as much of a surprise to any college basketball fan. Few people have ever lit up the Garden the way Walker did at UConn, and now he's taken that act to the pros.
When will opposing defenses learn: If you're facing Kemba Walker at MSG and the clock is winding down, you need to guard him with at least five defenders. And that still might not be enough.
