What We Learned from Monday's Raw

Aaron BowerNov 5, 2013

With Survivor Series upcoming in a few weeks, the WWE pulled out yet another solid edition of Raw Monday night.

After several rivalries and feuds were put to bed at Hell in a Cell, the new directions for certain Superstars are taking shape ahead of one of the biggest pay-per-views of the calendar year.

We also saw a returning Superstar on Raw this week as well as more solid tag team action and a nice twist in the final segment of the show, once again involving the Big Show and Triple H.

But what can we take from Monday night's edition of Raw? Who were the biggest winners and losers? Read on and find out.

Daniel Bryan Is Firmly out of the Championship Picture

Poor Daniel Bryan. It seems like the WWE just never really knew how to shape the crowd favourite into a credible champion for a sustained period. They guys in creative must have been the only people not to see it, though, as we all knew Bryan could deliver in the main event.

It isn't exactly a guarantee that Bryan is definitely out of the championship picture. But given what happened in the climax to Monday's show—coupled with Bryan and CM Punk opening the show and continuing their feud with the Wyatt Family—Bryan is not in the thoughts of creative at this moment in time.

Bizarrely, he has even reverted to sporting his corporate makeover haircut. Sure, Punk and Bryan teaming up is a dream scenario for many wrestling fans, but what next after that?

Perhaps a heel turn for one of Punk or Bryan? With John Cena as World Heavyweight champion, and a face Big Show in the WWE Championship picture, there appears to be a glut of faces at the top end of WWE.

It would be best for all involved if Bryan could force his way back into the title picture.

Tyson Kidd Is Still as Awesome as Ever Before

The returning Superstar in question at the beginning of the slideshow was, of course, Tyson Kidd.

And how great is it to have him back? With Rey Mysterio still on the injury list, and the likes of Sin Cara and Evan Bourne almost becoming forgotten men, the WWE has been missing a real high-flying athlete.

Kidd fills that void excellently and adds real excitement to any card he appears on.

Whilst it was nice to see him team up with Natalya, it would be great if creative could find an angle for Kidd to go down and push his way up the card.

He put some great spots into his tussle with Fandango on Raw this week, and I can't wait to see him again.

Big E Langston Steps Up Again

If you're looking for a Superstar who is on the receiving end of a huge push, then look no further than Big E Langston.

The only thing with getting a push from creative is that you have to back it up yourself by becoming a man who the crowd wants to see. And, since his turn into a face, Langston has been delivering week in and week out.

Sure, he was never going to beat Randy Orton this week on Raw. The guy is the WWE champion. But what he did do was deliver an awesome spectacle for the crowd, which fully got behind Langston throughout the match.

If he keeps this momentum up, you can bet on a belt around his waist before too long.

Goldust Has Still Got It

Whilst it has been fantastic to see Cody Rhodes and Goldust as Tag Team champions, it always feels like there is something missing.

Not enough Goldust.

Despite playing a role in some ridiculously bizarre storylines over the years, Goldust has always been a solid performer in the ring without really picking up a huge deal of championships.

In their six-man tag match with John Cena this week, though, Goldust stepped up to the plate big time. The whole match was excellent in all fairness, but it was just nice to see Goldust finish off the match by picking up the victory.

It was also nice that the crowd got to witness the fact that he has still got it when it comes to performing in the ring.

Another Great Twist at the Top

Big Show vs. Triple H delivered again on Monday night. I wrote recently how the WWE has struck gold with booking the Big Show, and he now has a WWE Championship match to show for it at Survivor Series.

Whilst the two again delivered another great segment on the mic, the twist at the end once again left me wanting more.

The re-emergence of Kane (with a suit and tie on!) was a great twist, and I think most people may have forgotten Kane pledging his allegiance to Stephanie McMahon last week on the show, given that Big Show was in the process of taking down The Shield and Randy Orton.

It allowed Triple H and "The Authority" to get the upper hand on the Big Show for a change, which keeps things interesting and refreshing in terms of the storyline.

What role Kane will play down the line is unclear. However, it is yet another great twist in this fantastic storyline.
