Full Preview for WWE Main Event Featuring Ryback and Kofi Kingston

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 29, 2013

Main Event is the definition of hot and cold. Some weeks we get a better match than anything Raw or SmackDown produces, and some weeks it feels like WWE is just looking to give midcard stars some screen time.

This week's episode of Main Event is set to feature four matches, none of which feature anyone who define the words "Main Event."

Ten WWE Superstars will be featured on the show, but only two of them are in anything close to a real feud at this point.

Let's take a look at the matches that are scheduled for the show, spoiler-free.

Kofi Kingston vs. Ryback

Ryback is coming off of two straight losses to CM Punk at Hell in a Cell and Raw, so WWE will probably be looking to give him an easy win to remind people that he is supposed to be dominant.

Kofi Kingston has been floundering to find any kind of real program since returning from an injury a couple of months back. Ryback is the one who put Kingston on the shelf after putting him through a series of tables, so perhaps this is the start of a new feud.

Since this is the match that is supposed to be the main event of the night (something that always confuses me since it's the first match), it will probably be given the most time.

Hopefully this isn't a quick squash, and Kofi has a chance to deliver some of his exciting offense because otherwise this will be just another mediocre Ryback rampage.

Santino vs. Heath Slater

There is not a lot to say about this matchup. We have seen Slater and Santino have several matches before, and they usually never end up being anything special.

Santino is a fun act for the kids, and Slater's 3MB are WWE's resident jobber group, so this will probably be a quick win for the Canadian-Italian babyface.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Slater will pick up a much-needed win. And maybe 3MB will win a Grammy.

All seem unlikely at this point.

Fandango vs. Khali

This is the one match on the card that actually has a feud behind it. It won't be a five-star match, but at least we'll get to see Summer Rae, which is never a bad thing.

Khali and Natalya have been trading wins with Summer Rae and Fandango for the past few weeks, and this will be just another random installment of their minor program.

Some fans may find this feud pointless, but it does serve a purpose. It keeps everyone relevant for the time being.

Maybe relevant was the wrong word to use. "Visible" is probably a more appropriate choice.

Los Matadores vs. Los Locales

Tyson Kidd and Ricardo Rodriguez were put under some generic masks a while back so they could job to Los Matadores, and it looks like WWE has decided to bring them back for another go.

Rodriguez has a lot of untapped talent, and Kidd and Los Matadores are very skilled workers, so this could end up being the best match of the night.

Between the high-flying moves all four men can pull off and El Torito's undeniable athleticism, we should be in for a quick but exciting spot-fest.

This week's show is coming off of the heels of a great episode of Raw, so hopefully the fact that none of the matches will have any serious repercussions or be five-star bouts does not slow down the momentum WWE has right now.

If you like seeing shows where none of the main stars of WWE are featured, then this is the show for you. The rest of you might as well skip this episode, because nothing of value is likely to occur. Are you actually looking forward to Main Event this week, and if so which match?
