WWE.com Updates Miz's Medical Condition Following Orton Attack
WWE has continued to promote Randy Orton's attack on the Miz from Monday Night Raw by posting on the website an update of Miz's medical condition.
"“Based on the placement of the chair and the force by Randy Orton, Miz has a preliminary diagnosis of an upper thoracic injury,” WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. “He has a bruised breastbone and bruised collarbone, he has difficulty moving his neck and arm and signs of a pinched nerve. We’re doing further tests on him right now and we should have more information after those tests are completed.”
A timetable on The Awesome One’s return has not yet been set, though the tests should bear results one way or another before the night is over.

Miz did not have an active feud prior to the beatdown, unless you count his on-again, off-again rivalry with Fandango from the last few weeks. Considering how poorly Miz has been booked since turning face earlier in the year, it would seem unlikely he'd enter into a feud with Orton in the near future.
Today, the site updated his status again, though, stating that Miz will not miss WWE live events and that he insists on competing. There is not indication as to when he'll be back in the ring on WWE television. In order to sell the voracity of Orton's attack, it should be some time.
In my opinion, WWE should take a good long look at Miz's potential long term. He's clearly a dedicated member of the roster and is in no danger of leaving for greener pastures. He's become a part of the fabric of the company and is omnipresent at its promotional appearances and media junkets.
Despite that dedication, though, Miz is capped as an in-ring performer. He's not a technical marvel nor is he a skilled brawler. He's an adequate-at-best wrestler with decent mic skills. He serves a role within the company and deserves a place on the roster, but I do not think he should be a wrestler for much longer.
Miz has the gift of gab and could look at a future as a color commentator/authority figure/manager. Jerry Lawler can't go on forever. I don't believe that JBL is in it for the long haul.
Establishing Miz as a reputable voice to viewers may be the best avenue long term.
