Mayweather vs. Canelo Results: Rematch Unlikely After Uneventful Win for Floyd
Floyd Mayweather was able to take the majority decision victory over Canelo Alvarez, and the uneventful fight will likely mean that the two won't face each other again.
The win for Mayweather puts him now at 45-0 over his career, while Canelo was given his first loss, putting him at 42-1-1.
It wasn't a good start for Canelo, simply because Money was too elusive. It seemed like almost every time Canelo went for a shot, Floyd either jumped back or moved his head around to avoid even the most deceptive blows.

While Floyd was moving around, he was still landing shots of his own. Some swelling started to show around the left eye for Canelo in the fourth round, and it started to get a little more lopsided.
Round 5 was controlled by Floyd, but things really started to pick up in the sixth. Both fighters kept aggressive, but Floyd landed some nice shots at the end.
Perhaps the most decisive round for Floyd was in the seventh. Money started it off with a nice uppercut, then started completely picking Canelo apart. Canelo stayed aggressive in the eighth and landed some shots by staying close to Floyd, but it was still a big hole for Canelo to try and climb out of.
Despite being down big, Canelo kept the pace up and actually landed his best shot on Floyd in the 10th round. Despite that, Floyd slowed down the pace and coasted to the end.
The fight was rather uneventful and both fighters came out of the fight without much serious swelling or damage. It was an easy win for Floyd, and the lack of excitement throughout means that a rematch between the two would be quite pointless.
There was almost no drama in the fight, other than the decision. It was clear to almost everyone that it was a unanimous victory, but C.J. Ross scored the fight as a draw at 114-114.
There is no rematch clause for the fight, which makes it even more unlikely the two fight again. Canelo is a good fighter in his own right, he just isn't at the same level that Mayweather is at.
At 36 years old, Mayweather will continue to fight new challengers, but he has a limited amount of fights remaining before he starts slowing down. It is uncertain who Mayweather will fight next, but it's highly unlikely we ever see these two go at it again.
