Making the Case for Big Show to Turn on Daniel Bryan and Join Triple H

Ryan DilbertJun 8, 2018

Big Show turns are as inevitable as the leaves falling in autumn.

While having "The World's Largest Athlete" join forces with Triple H at Night of Champions is a story many fans will see coming, it's a narrative that benefits the overall "Daniel Bryan versus the machine" angle and gives Big Show a shot to do what he does best.

Let the monster gnash his teeth at the hero; it's what's best for business.

After Triple H and Stephanie McMahon coerced Big Show into being their fist-wielding puppet last week, the big man seemed to reach his threshold for being bullied on Monday's WWE Raw.

Bryan had just got his first measure of revenge against the Triple H-led regime other than spray-painting Orton's Escalade. He evaded Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins' underhanded attacks and defeated Dean Ambrose.

The inevitable post-match beating came next.

The Shield and Randy Orton thrashed Bryan, leaving him unable to defend himself. Per his orders from Triple H, Big Show held his massive fight at the ready as Orton held Bryan's limp body up.

The giant turned away.

Orton barked orders at Big Show, but he refused to punch Bryan. That turn of events has all the makings of typical WWE misdirection.

The audience now expects Big Show to stand up for himself, to butt heads with Triple H and join Bryan's side. A number of fans have seen enough of Big Show's career to know that he's just as likely to go that route as he is to turn on Bryan.

Big Show aligning himself with Triple H is a move that has great potential in terms of the storylines that could sprout from it.

Triple H's lackeys now include Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Orton. As formidable as that group already is, adding a tortured giant to the mix only makes it feel more unstoppable.

Whether motivated by fear or money, adding the Big Show makes Triple H's version of The Corporation a force so powerful that should Bryan topple it, it would be an awe-inspiring achievement.

Bryan may well be forced to recruit the likes of Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and eventually Cody Rhodes to help him fight that force. Pitting those two teams against each other makes for an awesome Survivor Series match in the making and the kind of wrestling war that glues fans' eyes to the screen.

Should WWE divvy up sides like this, putting Big Show on the villainous one is the best option. His size, predatory snarl and brutality in the ring make him a better fit as a heel than a fan favorite.

A natural destroyer, Big Show can offer Bryan or any of his allies a major win to add to their resume.

Watching Big Show tear everything around him apart beats watching him cry, that's for sure.

A Big Show turn also adds variety to the opponents Bryan will face for subsequent episodes of Raw and SmackDown. Bryan battling members of The Shield has been fun to watch, but Big Show offers WWE another piece to plug in.

Bryan and Big Show have already shown how good they can be in the ring together.

The emotions would be even higher this time around than their feud over the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011 and 2012. Bryan would feel betrayed and Big Show would cover up his guilt with rage.

The potential turn adds depth, complexity and options to the current storyline. Even if folks see it coming, waiting for Big Show's anticipated betrayal would be like watching a ticking bomb in a movie.

There’s an explosion waiting to happen and it might just be Big Show's fist that sets it off.
