Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: New Era Begins with Gareth Bale Set to Depart
Gareth Bale's time with Tottenham Hotspur is coming to an end, which signals the start of a new era for Spurs.
Spanish newspaper AS (via The Herald Sun) is reporting that the deal sending Bale to Real Madrid from Tottenham will be worth up to €91 million. While this deal has been held up for far too long, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the deal will be finalized soon.
The loss of Bale is a tough one for the Spurs, but it certainly isn't crippling. Granted, Bale is one of the best players on the planet who has enjoyed plenty of successes during his career, but Tottenham have done a superb job in their attempts to replace him.
The transfer deals for Argentina's Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches of Romania were nice additions to the squad, but adding Christian Eriksen to the mix may have been one of the best moves of the summer.
Tottenham's Twitter account confirmed the Eriksen signing as official:
"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Christian Eriksen #THFC pic.twitter.com/ElUyojSiPn

Eriksen will be a bright spot for the future in Tottenham, but he is certainly a player who can make an immediate impact as well.
Not only can Eriksen find the back of the net on a pretty regular basis, he is also great at setting up his teammates. Through the first few games of the season, that is a place where it's obvious Tottenham can improve.
So, the Spurs boss has several options for using Eriksen on his club.
Maybe you're of the opinion that Lamela was the better signing. The midfielder is another explosive player who can score goals, so his acquisition can also be regarded a very good piece of business.
The signing of Vlad Chiriches will add a new face to Tottenham's defense that lost William Gallas and Steven Caulker during the summer.
Tottenham certainly didn't sit around and sulk about Bale leaving. Instead, Daniel Levy has been quite active in not only replacing his best player but adding even more depth to keep Spurs right in the thick of things for the rest of the season and especially beyond that.
Both Lamela and Eriksen are 21 years old with a ton of talent and potential, so the sky's the limit for Spurs and these two studs. Both should work well with the likes of Roberto Soldado.
It's easy to get dejected as a fan when the best player on their team leaves, but in this instance, those worries aren't really warranted. Other clubs around the globe should take note of how Tottenham handled this situation, as stars leaving their respective squads is becoming the norm.
None of the players that will replace Bale have the same star power, but with a little development and great play, there is the potential to get there someday for Lamela and Eriksen. In due time, Spurs fans may forget all about Bale as long as the team is successful.
Things couldn't have gone better during the August window for Tottenham after parting ways with their star, and the future is very bright for Spurs.
