Juventus Transfer Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of August 26

Colin O'BrienJun 8, 2018

If early form is anything to go on, the €9 million that Juventus paid for Carlos Tevez might be the summer's most prudently-spent cash.

-- UPDATED WED AUG 28 --

The sometimes-troublesome Argentine has hit the ground running in Turin, immediately making himself invaluable to Juve's push for their third Scudetto in a row.

The former Manchester City front-man has been joined at the Old Lady by Angelo Ogbonna and Fernando Llorente—who incredibly is being linked with a move away from Serie A already. Will there be more new faces for the Bianconeri? Or is it simply a case of now lightening the load?

Llorente to Barcelona

1 of 6

Both the Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport picked up on a report in the Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo (here in Spanish) that incredibly suggests that Fernando Llorente's Juventus career could be over before it's even begun.

The 28-year-old Spanish striker joined for free from Athletic Bilbao, but the papers are suggesting that he's already worried about first-team opportunities under Antonio Conte and could consider a shock move to Barcelona.

Barca boss Gerardo Martino is keen on getting a new striker, and is said to fancy Llorente, who in turn is desperate for minutes and goals in the lead up to the World Cup. A starting berth had seem assured when the forward moved to Turin, but Carlos Tevez is casting some doubt on Llorente's starring role.

From Juve's perspective, it would be an unusual move. But having signed him for free, the attraction of turning a quick buck might be too much to resist.

Juve to Snap Up the Next Zlatan?

2 of 6

He's not a player who'll be familiar to many, but Barcelona's 17-year-old Sergio Buenacasa is one of the most highly-rated players currently at La Masia.

Buenacasa is supposedly quite like Zlatan Ibrahimovic in terms of both physique and temperament, and Goal.com suggests that Barca might be willing to pass on the prodigious talent for fear of the attitude problems that may be to come.

Turin is among the suggested destinations, though the Spaniard did recently also have a trial with Celtic in Scotland.

Matri to Milan

3 of 6

The Gazzetta dello Sport (here in English via football-italia.net) is reporting that Milan are ready to bid for Alessandro Matri—providing they qualify for the Champions League.

The Rossoneri will move for the former Cagliari striker, says the paper, if they beat PSV Eindhoven in their crucial qualifying game.

It's thought that Juve are willing to accept a loss on the player they paid €15.5 million for back in 2011, with €10 - €13 million likely being enough to secure the 29-year-old's services.

Paolo De Ceglie to Follow Giaccherini to Sunderland?

4 of 6

Paolo De Ceglie is another player deemed surplus to requirements by Conte, says Tuttosport (in Italian). The Turin-based sports daily suggests that the left-back is close to a move to Sunderland, where Paolo Di Canio is overseeing a very Italian revolution.

De Ceglie is a Juve youth product but has never really managed to hold down a starting XI position. Now 26, he needs to play more first-team football, and he could soon be lining up with former another former-Bianconero, Emanuele Giaccherini, at the Black Cats.

Ranieri Beats Former Club to Geoffrey Kondogbia

5 of 6

Paul Pogba's international team-mate Geoffrey Kondogbia looked like he might soon be a Juventino—but it now looks like he's signed for Claudio Ranieri's Monaco.

France's RMC Sport (here in English via yahoo.com) believe that the former Juve manager is willing to offer as much as €20 million for the talented Sevilla midfielder, with a deal expected in the coming days.

Interest in Zuniga, but Juve Won't Force a Move

6 of 6

Juve's attempts to sign Napoli wing-back Juan Camilo Zuniga have been going on for some time now. Last week, the player had made noises suggesting that he was happy at the San Paolo, but that he'd also love a move to Turin.

The Partenopei are keen to reach a conclusion with the 27-year-old Colombian either way, because with just 12 months left on his contract, they don't want to lose such a talented player for free.

The Bianconeri's director, Beppe Marotta, spoke to the Gazzetta dello Sport (in English, goal.com) about his interest in the player, but was clear that a move for the defender wouldn't come at the expense of good relations between the two clubs.

Marotta said:

"

He's a player that arouses much interest. But it is a situation that concerns Napoli, who have every right to propose a contract renewal.

We're talking about an important player in [Rafael] Benitez's squad, so I'm afraid it will be difficult to take him away.

We, given the good relations between the two clubs, do not intend to interfere.
