EPL Transfer News: Updates Surrounding League's Top Teams

Tyler BrookeJun 8, 2018

The English Premier League season is finally underway, and the transfer news is starting to swirl around a few big names and top teams.

There are plenty of rumors regarding guys like Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney, but nothing has been confirmed at the moment.  However, we are starting to learn some concrete things regarding other potential signings.

Sure, these guys may not be the worldwide superstars like Suarez and Rooney are, but they're very good players who could be big improvements to their respective organizations.

So, which players look like they are on their way to new teams?  Let's take a look.

Arsenal Can Snag Michu, but for a Big Fee

Michu has been a great player so far for Swansea City, scoring 18 goals in 35 games during Premier League play.

Now, it looks like Arsenal are interested, but they are going to have to pay quite the fee if they want to bring him in.

Matt Law from the Mirror recently reported that Arsenal would have to pay a £25 million fee in order to grab Michu from Swansea.  The report says that:

"

Having seen bids for Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney rejected this summer, Arsenal are being forced to consider alternatives before the transfer window shuts on September 2.

Arsenal have not given up on Suarez yet and are likely to submit a new offer, but the club are being forced to plan for the possibility they will not land the Uruguayan.

"

In the event that Arsenal are unable to grab Suarez, Michu would be another good addition for the team.  However, the fact that there would be such a large transfer fee could easily turn the Gunners away from the deal.

It is clear that they need something, though, and there's still a possibility that this team decides to deal with the fee and bring in the talented striker.

Leighton Baines Unlikely to Head to Manchester United

The Red Devils have yet to make a splash with any big signings this summer, and it doesn't look like that will change with this potential move.

After expressing interest in Everton defender Leighton Baines, it appears that they have given up on trying to grab him.  A report by Sky Sports stated that Everton manager Roberto Martinez said he does not expect Manchester United to submit another bid for Baines.

The argument could be made that Baines is the best left-back in the Premier League, and at 28 years old, he still has a few years left in his prime.  Although the team already has Patrice Evra, it would certainly be all right with an even better player at the position.

That might not matter, however, as it appears Baines is staying put for now.

David Moyes Confident in Signing Marouane Fellaini

While the chances of signing Baines are declining, it's looking more and more likely that United will finally be able to make a big signing this summer.

According to Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, both United manager David Moyes and Marouane Fellaini feel confident that a move to Old Trafford is about done for the Belgian midfielder.

The Red Devils could certainly use a player of Fellaini's skills on the team.  While he may not be the attacker that Cesc Fabregas is, he would certainly be an upgrade in the midfield.

However, he's a valuable piece to Everton, and it will be a battle for Moyes and United to bring in this young talent.
