Summer Transfer Window Gossip: Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez
The transfer saga surrounding Wayne Rooney and Chelsea has taken a new twist, according to one report in Wednesday's papers.
The England international had appeared to be heading toward Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes on Sept. 2.
But a new article claims Manchester United are in no mood to allow Rooney to join one of their Premier League rivals.
Gareth Bale and his proposed move to Real Madrid is also back in the papers, with one article reporting what the Tottenham star has told his Wales teammates while on international duty this week.
But who else is in the news on Wednesday? Read on to find out more.
Manchester United Dig Their Heels in over Wayne Rooney
1 of 5Manchester United insist that striker Wayne Rooney will not be sold to Chelsea, reports Daniel Taylor of The Guardian.
The England international has been the subject of two bids from Jose Mourinho after a summer of discontent between the player and his club, as Steve Brenner of The Guardian noted.
Rooney has not featured in preseason for United due to injury, but he is in line to play for England in the friendly against Scotland at Wembley on Wednesday night.
According to Taylor, United owners the Glazer family have dug their heels in over any deal. They maintain that Rooney will not be sold to the West London club whether the player is unhappy at Old Trafford or not.
In related news, The Telegraph has been revealing extracts from a new book called The Manager by Mike Carson this week, and Wednesday's edition of the newspaper includes a telling interview with United manager David Moyes on how he maintains discipline in his squad.

The White Hart Lane star has been the subject of continuing speculation over a world-record move to Real Madrid this summer, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been playing hardball with the La Liga side, as David Hytner of The Guardian reported recently.
Bale has been with the Wales squad ahead of the friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Cardiff, even though he will not play in the match due to a foot injury.
But the 24-year-old has revealed to Welsh teammates that he is "confused and bitter" at Tottenham's lack of movement over his proposed transfer to the Bernabeu, according to Gordon.
Luis Suarez Says He Will Be Staying at Liverpool

Malyon cites Martin Charquero, of GolTV Latin American, as the source for his article after the Uruguay international told Charquero that he will remain a Reds player and may even sign a contract extension.
Suarez has informed the world of his desire to leave Liverpool throughout the summer, and he has been the subject of bids from Arsenal.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard told reporters on Tuesday that the Anfield club would do everything possible to keep the player, as Malyon reported.
Meanwhile, David Anderson of the Daily Mirror claims Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be bankrolled in his bid for Anzhi Makhachkala winger Willian.
Fulham Locked in Battle with QPR for Scott Parker
4 of 5Fulham and Queens Park Rangers are set to battle it out for the right to bring Scott Parker to West London from north of the English capital, reports Charlie Wyett of The Sun (subscription).
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is the subject of interest from former manager Harry Redknapp, who is rebuilding QPR after their relegation from the top flight last season.
But Craven Cottage manager Martin Jol is also keen to sign the former West Ham United captain in a move which would allow Parker to stay in the Premier League.
Paris Saint-Germain to Make Bid for Yohan Cabaye
5 of 5Paris Saint-Germain are poised to make a £15.5 million bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to Gary Jacob, Tony Barrett and George Caulkin of The Times (subscription).
PSG head coach Laurent Blanc has made Cabaye his priority transfer target, claims the report, and he will allow three others to leave in order to accommodate the former Lille man.
Cabaye joined Newcastle two years ago in a £4.3 million transfer, but his departure would leave manager Alan Pardew in a dilemma ahead of the new season, as Ben Jefferson of Express noted this week.
