The Rock and John Cena: WWE Fans Foolishly Pick Sides
I guess I’m in the minority when I say, "Who cares about the Rock?"
Seriously, WWE fans, think about it. He left the WWE full time back in 2004. Then he wrestled part-time or when he felt like it until 2005. He made a few appearances on RAW, then at the Hall of Fame ceremony, too.
But, fans, we are not going to see him wrestle in the WWE again. Give it up!

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
However, we do have someone similar to the Rock, John Cena.
Now, before I get backlash in comments for saying this, let me explain it.
While Cena is not as good of a wrestler as Rock was, he has the same mic skills and ability to connect with fans that Rock had. People cared less about his wrestling skills in the beginning of his career and up to about 2005.
He had an angle, the Thuganomics/Rapper gimmick. People fell in love with Cena and his gimmick. It started out as heel role for him, which got him noticed. Then, suddenly, the role we thought would only work only as a heel gimmick turned into a babyface gimmick.
While he still kept the edge, and was transitioning to face, people began to love him even more. This got him his first World Championship in the WWE. If you remember, he changed to the spinner title we see today.
No one has spun anything on it for a while, however.
In any case, fans began to care less about his wrestling than the gimmick.
Now that he’s a full-fledged face, fans start talking about how he sucks in the ring, and those people suddenly don’t like him. He has a new gimmick, which is virtually no gimmick whatsoever.
He gradually dropped the rapper gimmick, and he is what we see him as today.
So, let me get this straight. Many said that they hated the rapper gimmick and wanted to see the real Cena, and the gimmick gets phased out.
But we hate him for not acting like a thug, which would appear to appeal to the African-American audience and the Eminem-wannabe white males.
Now, when he opens himself up to be himself he is hated for it?
Ok, that makes sense.
The fact is that many clamor to see the Rock again when he left the WWE and wants to have nothing to do with it. People keep saying “One more match!” every time they see him even get close to a WWE audience.
Now, I am sure people are going to yell it out in movies. As if he can actually hear us.
He said his wrestling career is over, and that is that. Respect the decision fans.
Meanwhile, we have John Cena, who fights for the fans, in a way. The man actually called out the Rock, too, saying that he thinks the Rock was bad to the fans for saying he loved them and then suddenly leaving them.
He claimed that he is not fighting with the Rock, he is just upset with the fact he did that to fans. And Cena says he will never leave the fans while he is still able to wrestle. When you think about it, Cena is following through on his word, too.
Cena has made two movies, The Marine and 12 Rounds. The Marine was the best WWE Films Project ever produced by the WWE. It made the most money of any of the WWE movies.
When the Rock made his way into The Mummy as the Scorpion King for a brief role, he stayed in the WWE, of course, like Cena. Then the makers of The Mummy thought they had something good in the Scorpion King, and followed up with a movie about him.
Rock had a movie where he was the main character, and it did very well. He then decided that, if he was asked to do any other movies, he would do them. While still employed by the WWE, it was tough to do those movies and also wrestle full time.
So he eventually left the WWE and its fans, answering the call of Hollywood.
Cena has two movies where he is the main character and one of them blew up (The Marine). While 12 Rounds did not do very well, it did manage to make a few million in the box office.
Yet, Cena has not stopped wrestling full time. And has said he will do any other film for the WWE or anyone else, too. But he will not leave.
He said during one interview that, while he was ringside, a man yelled out, “Cena, what the hell is wrong with you? You have been two movies now, why in the hell are you still wrestling?”
Cena said that angered him. The fans think that he is like the Rock, and going to leave them.
Cena wants the fans to know that he is not anything like the Rock. He loves wrestling and acting, and will continue to wrestle more because that is his true love. While he does love to act, he will not stop wrestling to go to Hollywood.
That should make fans want to be behind Cena more than ever. He is there for us, the WWE fans!
Yet, we hate him?
What is wrong with fans today? Sure, he may not be the best wrestler we have ever seen. Cena himself knows that he is not the next Ric Flair or Bret Hart, and knows he will never be that good. He knows what his strengths are, and will use them.
We may never see another Hart of Flair, and to me when you try to compare every big wrestler in the company to those two, it is a mistake. Because you have been spoiled by those two men, you think everyone else afterwards will be just as good at wrestling, or better.
That is not the case.
We should support Cena, not hate. If he is there for you, and says he wants to continue to entertain you, why boo him unless he is a heel?
Think about this: Cena wants to wrestle for you, and Rock doesn’t.
Yet you love Rock and hate Cena?
How dumb is that?
