England Under-19s Form Guide

Pakistan put in a batting masterclass during England's first match. The home side managed just five wickets in 50 overs and quickly ran out of ideas against an opposition that was unlucky not to win its first match against Bangladesh. A no-contest on Day 1 had Pakistan fired up, and for the most part, England couldn't handle it.

Josh Shaw led the best of a poor bunch on August 6. He managed to grab two from a total of five wickets, including that of 120-run hero Imam ul-Haq. Will Rhodes also notched a double, but England's bowlers need to improve quickly. The lowest economy rate of all was Jack Winslade, who still struggled to halt the runs on an average of 3.90.

The low-order of England's attack also needs some major work. A total of 22 runs was scored across the last five batsmen, highlighting a side that never threatened to open with victory. Sloppy play all around has heightened the importance of the next match.

England have now had their wake-up call. Pakistan's first performance has allowed the visiting team to settle and gain momentum. The Young Lions take on a Bangladesh side that has not played for two days and may be out of tune.

Bangladesh Under-19s Form Guide

Bangladesh's  Tri-Nations opener suffered a jittery start due to a number of factors. None of the team's batsmen managed to score prolifically and struggled through an innings that was always threatened by rain.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto remained at the crease for a team-high 93 minutes. The left-handed batsman managed 30 runs from 63 balls and looked to improve a score that didn't have the opposition trembling with fear. His teammates largely failed to follow his lead and need to quickly assert themselves against an English bowling order that has struggled so far.

Rifat Pradhan's late 20 from 65 balls slightly eased the pain of Bangladesh's play that never appeared to be in sync. Joyraz Emon, Abu Sayeem and Jubair Hossain were all dismissed for a duck, giving Pakistan real hope of racking up a first win. Fortunately for a struggling Bangladesh side that was bowled out in 42.1 overs for 145, the heavens opened and halted the Pakistan attack.

With 17.0 overs played and Pakistan working hard for 38/4, a no-contest was declared.

Can England get back into the tournament with a big win? Will Bangladesh be pleased with another no-contest? Pakistan will be watching intently.
