FIFA Confederations Cup 2013: Players Who Hurt Transfer Value With Poor Showing
The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup is in full swing, but already some notable names have struggled on the big summer stage in Brazil.
It's far too early to panic, as each team has only played one group stage match, but unless they turn things around soon, these stars' transfer value could take a serious hit at an unfortunate time.
Here we'll highlight a pair of well-known stars whose disappointing showing thus far in Brazil has hurt their transfer value this summer.

Giovani Dos Santos, Mexico
Mexican star Giovani Dos Santos wasn't nearly as aggressive as some would have liked him to be in Sunday's opening loss to Italy.
The 24-year-old recorded just one shot for the match, committed a pair of fouls and even picked up a yellow card in the second half. Dos Santos did earn the penalty on Andrea Pirlo that led to Javier Hernandez's match-tying goal, but that was where his impact stopped.
Dos Santos' lack of size and strength is something that continues to hold him back. Bigger defenders are able to throw him off his game and ultimately influence his play.
Dos Santos scored six goals and assisted on seven others in 29 La Liga appearances for Mallorca this past season, but his struggles on the international level has to have any interested clubs second-guessing themselves.
According to Tom Marshall of Sporting News, Dos Santos' "options appear to be as wide-ranging as LA Galaxy, Queretaro and Valencia." Of course, he could also remain with Mallorca. But either way, his play at the Confederations Cup will continue to be under close scrutiny.
Keep in mind that Dos Santos hasn't scored for the Mexican senior national team since last summer in a 2014 World Cup qualification win over Guyana, and has been a big reason why El Tri has struggled to pickup solid results as of late.
Luis Suarez, Uruguay
There's no denying that Luis Suarez is among the most talented strikers in football. But in Uruguay's Confederations Cup opener against Spain, the Liverpool star recorded just one shot on goal, scoring late on a free kick that only made the match look closer than it actually was.
With Spain dominating possession and picking Uruguay's defense apart, Suarez went missing for most of the match, rarely touching the ball and being thoroughly outplayed by counterpart Andres Iniesta.
Obviously, Suarez's inability to maintain his composure in recent outings on the club level has been concerning, but if he's not creating scoring chances, then his new team will have much less patience with him.
According to the Mirror's David Maddock, Suarez is very interested in a potential move to Real Madrid this summer.
Suarez's brilliant free kick points to his remarkable talent and the potential he brings each and every time he steps on the pitch. But in order to prove he belongs with the elite strikers on the planet, he needs to show that he can will his team to key victories.
This past season at Anfield, Suarez scored 23 goals and recorded five assists, but struggled in the big moments of the biggest league matches. His two hat tricks came in blowout wins over Norwich City and Wigan. Meanwhile, he went scoreless in two losses to eventual Premier League champion Manchester United.
Suarez will need to step up against Nigeria on Thursday, as Uruguay will need to come away with three points in order to keep pace in Group B.
