Spain vs. Uruguay: Players That Will Have Biggest Impact on Star-Studded Match
The great thing about the Confederations Cup is that the best matchups happen right away, and fans are able to see some of the top players in the world compete against each other.
With only eight teams in the competition, there is little room for error. Every squad comes into each match looking to get three points to win the table and advance.
Although Spain is easily the favorite as the reigning World Cup and European champions, Uruguay has a lot of talent and is capable of challenging for a title. The opening match between these two teams on Sunday will go a long way in deciding Group B, and it will come down to the contributions of a few key players on each side.

These will not be the most talented men on the pitch, but they will be the most important in the highly anticipated contest.
5. Edinson Cavani, Uruguay
It is clear from Edinson Cavani's performance in recent matches that Uruguay has a lot of scoring talent. In the team's last match, the forward scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Venezuela in World Cup qualifying.
If Uruguay is going to make a run in this tournament and other upcoming competitions, it will need the goals to come from multiple places besides just Luis Suarez. Otherwise, the squad will be too easy to defend.
Cavani has the talent to make that happen with his natural finishing ability; he simply needs more consistency.
4. Iker Casillas, Spain
Between Cavani and Suarez, there should be more shots coming at Iker Casillas than he is used to defending.
The Spanish goalkeeper is one of the best in the world, but he has gotten by in international competitions thanks in part to a midfield that controls possession for much of the match. He faces fewer shots than virtually anyone else at his position.
Casillas will be tested in this one, and it will be important to come through with a strong performance.
3. Pedro, Spain
One of the only weaknesses for Spain is its lack of consistency from its forwards. Fernando Torres has world-class ability, but he has not been reliable up front for the talented squad.
This leaves an opportunity for Pedro, who is becoming the forgotten man at Barcelona. The young forward still has plenty of talent, however, and he has shown it so far in World Cup qualifying with five goals.
In Spain's attack, Pedro should have a lot of opportunities near the net. He must take advantage of these chances and finish them for goals.
2. Luis Suarez, Uruguay
While Luis Suarez seems to have as many enemies as fans, there is no denying that he is one of the best goal scorers in the world.
Not only did he finish second in the English Premier League with 23 goals, but he is averaging almost a goal per match for Uruguay during the qualifying process.
If the South American squad has a chance against Spain, it will need a big-time effort out of Suarez. He might need multiple goals to keep up with this talented opponent.
1. Andres Iniesta, Spain
In the battle for the 2012 Ballon d'Or, Andres Iniesta finished third behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. His contributions to the Spanish national team had a lot to do with him becoming a finalist for this prestigious award.
The midfielder controls the offense for this squad. He has the ability to maintain possession with perfect passes as long as he wants, or he can push the attack to put his side on top with a goal.
Although Spain has plenty of talented midfielders on the roster, Iniesta is the most important one. If he plays to his ability, it's tough to imagine Uruguay remaining in contention in this battle.
