WWE Getting Sued by an Indy Promotion
Does anyone know how much the WWE makes annually? Or just per month?
I'll let you know in case you're unaware: millions. The company is truly the juggernaut of the world of professional wrestling. But sometimes, people think they can take advantage of that.
Some people think they can sue, win a big case, and get all sorts of money out of it.

The problem with that, though, is that half the time, there is no case at all. Besides, the WWE seems to never lose a case against it; dating back to the early '90s, Vince McMahon has gotten off scot-free.
That's because he tells the truth, and because the lawyers he has are very expensive and know what they are doing. They just got finished with a lawsuit with former WWE star Raven; it seemed to go on forever, but the company won.
And now another suit is coming their way, this time from an independent promotion. Former WWE developmental territory Deep South Wrestling has filed suit against WWE.
According to Wrestlenewz.com:
"DSW owner Joe “The Assassin” Hamilton is being represented by James D. McGuire of the Atlanta-based McGuire, Crohan and Klinger firm.
When asked to comment on the proceedings, Hamilton replied, “Deep South isn’t going to roll over and play dead, and I’m not either. It’s time to fight back."
There aren't many details at the moment, as everyone involved remains tight-lipped. What is this, Fight Club?
I suspect that when the WWE gets more info about the charges brought against them, they'll make a definitive statement, but I think it's safe to say that when an indy promotion tries something like this, it's just a matter of money.
Just like in a libel case, no one will go to jail as a result of this trial. There will just be a settlement; a fine, if you will, like one a newspaper would pay if it wrongly accused someone of a crime.
The question most likely is just "how many zeros will it take to put this behind us?"
Deep South Wrestling wants big cash, as it's likely they're in financial ruin right now, what with the economy the way it is and the small size of their company. I am sure they could use as much financial help as possible.
When more info becomes available, I will report it here, so stay tuned to B/R.
