"It’s official Jose is a Chelsea man again! Everyone is delighted he’s coming back — the club, the players and the fans.
We are already looking forward to next season — we are sure it’s going to be very exciting."
Mourinho attended the Championship playoff final between Crystal Palace and Watford at Wembley on Monday.
However, news of Chelsea’s appointment comes in the backdrop of sharp criticism from FC Barcelona vice-president Carles Vilarrubi.
The 59-year-old labelled Mourinho’s stay in Spain as a “disaster” and expected nothing to change when the Portuguese lands in England to take charge of Chelsea.
According to The Telegraph, in an interview he is quoted as saying:
"It is not good for English football. Chelsea maybe think they had a good time from him in the past. But you will see the real Mourinho now. If he behaves like he did in Spain it will only be an unhappy relationship. A disaster. And at his age he is not going to change.

Jose Mourinho returns to the hot seat of Chelsea FC after interim manager Rafael Benitez vacated the post to take over at Serie A club Napoli. Benitez replaced outgoing coach Walter Mazzari at Napoli who took over from Andrea Stramaccioni at Inter Milan.
However, Chelsea are thought of as one of the clubs most likely to snatch Napoli’s superstar and Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani in a summer transfer deal according to a poll by The Guardian.
ESPN reports that Chelsea expect to unveil their new manager next week following the completion of Real Madrid’s final league game against Osasuna.
Jose Mourinho accepts charge of Chelsea Football Club for the second time in his career.
In his previous spell, between 2004-07, the Portuguese had won six trophies, including two Premier League titles, before parting ways with the club by mutual consent.
