Liverpool Transfer News: Martin Skrtel Figures to Be Expendable at Anfield
Martin Skrtel's future with Liverpool may be in doubt given recent developments.
The 28-year-old reportedly told Slovakian media recently that he would "seriously consider" offers to leave the club, according to Mike Whalley of ESPNFC.com.
He told Slovakian newspaper Dennik Sport, per the ESPNFC.com report: "I have not had any specific offers but, if some should come and they interest me, I would probably ponder it seriously.”

Skrtel isn't a bad player. He's proven his worth in the Premier League throughout the years. His physicality, ability to win air duels and passing skills have gained him supporters in his career.
But, the fact of the matter is, Liverpool may not need him moving forward.
Skrtel made only four starts in the EPL in 2013 behind Jamie Carragher. Even with Carragher retiring, there are rumors that the Reds are considering Manchester City defender Kolo Toure on a free transfer, Greek centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Sporting Lisbon's Portugal Under-20 defender Tiago Ilori for the summer, per the ESPNFC.com report.
It's likely that Skrtel would be buried on the depth chart again if those players signed. He's a talented player, but expecting him to start moving forward for Liverpool is probably expecting too much. Obviously, it depends on the quality Liverpool ultimately brings in, but early indications suggest there will be a move to add some formidable talent to compete for the top four next season.
The pressure is certainly there for the club. Liverpool hasn't made the top four since the 2008-09 campaign. This past season, the Reds placed seventh in the Premier League, 12 points behind fourth-place Arsenal.
Skrtel called last season one of the worst seasons in his career, per the ESPNFC.com report. That may be an accurate description.
Don't expect Liverpool to appease the Slovakian as the club looks ahead to a potentially brighter future. Make no mistake about it, Skrtel's future with Liverpool is murky.
