Belmont Stakes 2013: Where Orb, Oxbow and Top Horses Will Finish
The Belmont Stakes 2013 will be the final leg of the Triple Crown, so Orb and Oxbow will battle other horses as they try to take home another victory.
Anything can happen in horse racing, but those two horses will have eyes on them leading up to the race. With each horse winning a leg of the Triple Crown already in 2013, there will be expectations of a close finish at the Belmont Stakes.
After a disappointing showing at the Preakness Stakes, Orb will be looking to rebound. After finishing fourth, the Kentucky Derby winner will be the favorite to win the final Triple Crown race.
Oxbow seemingly came out of nowhere to win the Preakness Stakes, and the horse will now be expected to prove that the last race wasn't a fluke.
While those two will grab the headlines entering the race, there will be other horses that have a chance to make a trip to the winner's circle.
Where will the top horses finish at Belmont Park on June 8?
Orb
Anything other than a victory at Belmont Park should be considered a disappointment for Orb.
After winning the Kentucky Derby, there was a major letdown at the Preakness Stakes. However, that race will be seen as a fluke after Orb wins the Belmont Stakes in June.
The Kentucky Derby showed just how good Orb can be. The horse was by far the best horse in the field. The horse struggled, however, when the Preakness Stakes made it tough to break through the rest of the field.
Orb had not lost in 2013 before the Preakness Stakes, and he will get back to his winning ways.
Jockey Joel Rosario will try to get Orb ready for the final leg, and they should come away with the victory. Horse Racing Nation lists Orb as "possible," so he will win as long he enters the race.
Oxbow
Now that Oxbow surprised everyone by winning at the Preakness Stakes, there will be pressure on him to win again.
Jockey Gary Stevens will be looking to keep up the success, but it will be difficult this time around.
The Belmont is the longest race of the Triple Crown, and it will make it tougher for an underdog to come out on top the way Oxbow did last race. It was a shocking finish for the horse last time out, but there will be no surprises in this race.
While Orb will rebound and win his second Triple Crown race of 2013, Oxbow is going to struggle. Oxbow will fall out of the top three after winning the Preakness.
The Field
With the previous Triple Crown race winners taken care of, the rest of the field deserves some attention.
Of the top contenders in the field, there are two that stick out: Revolutionary and Overanalyze.
Revolutionary has the best chance to challenge Orb for the top spot. The horse finished third at the Kentucky Derby but didn't take part in the Preakness Stakes.
Horse Racing Nation has Revolutionary as a "definite," so if Orb doesn't show up, Revolutionary will be taking the race. If Orb takes part in the race, Revolutionary will have to settler for runner-up.
The other horse, Overanalyze, had a very disappointing showing at the Kentucky Derby. The horse finished 11th at the Derby and didn't run in the Preakness Stakes either.
Overanalyze has won four of his eight races, so there is the potential that he can come away with a victory.
