Come To Think Of It: All Is Right In Cubs World, At Least For One Night
As Diane Keaton once sung, "it seems like old times."
And so it did for the Chicago Cubs, for one night in Phoenix, Arizona anyway, as the Cubbies beat up on the Snakes 11-3.
This game had all the elements of the Cubs we had come to know and expect, yet hadn't seen much of so far this season.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
It had Carlos Zambrano, pitching and hitting like the Big Z of old. Zambrano narrowly missed hitting two homers in the game, settling for a single, double and home run, coming one triple short of the cycle.
It contained little Mikey Fontenot displaying the power we saw last year. It featured another home run by Alfonso Soriano, who was batting leadoff like old times.
Hey, we even got a rare glimpse of Milton Bradley, who actually made a start in right field and got two hits.
Now that's worth the price of admission alone.
We saw the return of the forgotten backup catcher, Koyie Hill, who made the most of his first start in 15 days. He went 3-for-5 on the night.
Let's forget that the Cubs are barely above water at 10-9, and in third place. Let's ignore Bradley's anemic batting average, and Geo Soto's struggles hitting and throwing.
For one night, at least, the good ol' Cubs showed up to play.
The team is in the midst of 13 straight ballgames, with May 11th their next scheduled day off. So it was especially nice to see Z go seven innings.
Perhaps it won't last. As Gerald Nachman once said, "Nothing fails like success".
But at least all is right in the Cubs' world for one night, come to think of it.
